M&P versus Sig sauer P226 or P250?
I am looking for a compact/carry 9mm semi-auto, my price range is from $400-$600. I really like the sig P226 with is both SA and DA, I also like the sig P250 (however it is DA only). From your experiences do u recommend the M&P over the sigs? Do u know anyone selling any M&P's? Does the M&P have both SA and DA functions? Here is the one I was looking at.

Well friend your in the wrong section to ask that question but having fired all those on ur list the m&p is my favorite hands down... but the only reason they make so many models is because everyone don't like the same thing.. and you can buy that m&p for 540 otd.. great weapons thow

Get the one that feels best in you hand. All three are excellent and will serve you well.

Best to go to a range that rents firearms and try out as many as you can that are on your list. What's good for Shooter A isn't good for Shooter B, regardless of brand.

I've shot both and personally love every Sig I've ever held, so I'm a little bias in that aspect. To me the sig feels like a porsche and the m&p is like a corvette...both just mean muscle and capable of high performance...it's just what fits you better.

I always recommend S&W over Sig, but mostly because of bias. Too me, Sigs feel very top heavy (sans the 239). I really tried to like the P250 but in my hand it made a Glock feel thin.
But all said and done I will just agree with akviper.

Yup, exactly. If you are able to try different designs and see which one works the best for you - then take advantage of that.

I have shot a Sig 226 for several years. I actually prefer the older S&W 99 or the current S&W M&P in terms of ergonomics. For concealed carry I prefer a pistol without either a slide or grip safety, or a frame mounted decocker - things get in the way in stressfull situations. The S&W 99/Walther P99 had a very unique ambi mag release which suits my needs.

you have some great advise given to you, I have also shot and carried all of the listed guns. I have found for me I like the power and feel of the M&P 45 or even the glock series in what you are looking for, either the glock 17,19,26, or even the 22,23,27.. just shoot and handle all of them and see what feels best in your hand.

The P226 is, by any reasonable standard, a good handgun. It's kind of big and a lot of people struggle with the DA/SA transition. That can be solved by using a DAK P226, which is actually a really nice DAO trigger system. It accomplishes the benefits of DAO function without the drawbacks of being objectionably heavy and hard to use well.
The P250 is, by all credible reports I've seen, a real dog. It's been a candidate in some high level testing for a federal contract where it has performed miserably. Avoid at all costs.
The M&P is more compact and concealable than the P226 and would be my choice. Both have their pluses and minuses. There are certain drawbacks to a big aluminum framed doublestack 9mm, just as there are certain drawbacks to a striker fired handgun with a roughly six pound trigger and no manual safety.
