Does anyone know how many parts are in the M&P. People talk about how the Glock has Few parts to it and just wondered how the M&P compares to that.

I count 34 parts in a Glock 17 including magazine & parts inside. I believe the parts count on the M&P 9 is 27. (not sure if that includes the mag).

Disclaimer:

I couldn't resist....

Just toss out the parts you don't need and it'll work like a Glock, too....

:D

(I shot a Glock the other night. Had to go home and take a shower.... :))

Seriously, IMHO, this is one of those specious statistics that the advertising folks like, but mean little. Like the ad currently running around here for pain pills like Aleve. With "their" drug, you can take fewer pills for the same relief. Unless you're in a low-water situation, who cares as long as you get the relief safely, and in a timely manner. (My wife gets real excited when she gets told to take a drug that's 800mg or something like that. Sounds better than 80mg.... Overall effectiveness doesn't make it into her world view.)

And, if you're in love with low parts counts, a 1911 may be worth a look.... You can toss the grip safety and thumb safety and it'll still shoot (although some tape on the back of the grip may be necessary/count), and the slide stop can be replaced by a nail....

Regards,

I own both the GLOCK 17 and the S&W M&P 9.
I have to say... the M&P win's hands down.
Not sure if I care if its 27 or 39 pieces.
