folks, just got my mp9 full size in.i love my mp9c.and ordred a mp9 full size.
i have 1 question sw folks. the slide to barrel fit is really loose.i mean there is a lot of play.i checked the other mp guns at my dealers and they seemed to have the same slide to frame looseness.the barrel to slide fit is tight.

folks, is this normal to have such a loose fit.
and second how can such a loose fit shoot such a tight group.
i have always had sig guns, and the barrel, frame and slide are always tight on sigs.
.
anyway,i sure would appreciate any advice from you folks who have shot the gun.
that the loose fitting slide to frame is normal and does not affect the accuracy of gun.
thanks for any advice friends

Since the sights are on the slide the barrel-to-slide fit is more important as far as accuracy. Often refered to as "Combat Loose" some guns have more play than others, but as long as the barrel specs and fit is good they will shoot quite well.

What do you mean by loose? does the barrel rattle around when in battery ready to fire or are you refering to the fit when not in battery?

None of my 4 (9, 40, 45 and 45c) have failed to achieve sub 3/4 inch groups (15 yd.)when loaded with good ammo. My 45's both are good for 3/8" groups when my old eyes are working.

If not in battery they all rattle like a Model T Ford.

TOF,AND GUYS,THANKS,IN BATTERY,THE BARREL TO SLIDE HAS ZERO PLAY.when slide is back, thre is some rattle.
in battery, when i shake gun side to side i feel and hear a little play in the gun,.
the main thing that bothred me was, when in battery,i can move the front of gun a good 3/16 of an inch side to side.the barrel and slide to frame fit has about 3/16 play in it.
i have only had sigs and hk guns in the past,so this is new to me. my mp9c is much tight in battery.
but your advice is reassuring friends
thank you

I would recheck the measurement. Was this measurement taken with a empty pistol or a loaded/snap caps in mag and chambered? My Sigma 9VE is far tighter than that no matter how you measure it. And the M&P FS .45 is even a tad tighter than the Sigma. Heck my PF-9 is tighter than what your presenting. My CZ-52 is tight like you have seen in your Sig's and HK's. But the old Comblock CZ-52 has a way better rail system. And all steel. Much more like a 1911. And thats why it's also lethal out to 100 yards. Mainstream poly pistols have some battle slop in them. My fav. 1911 of all time sounded like a old coffee can with ball bearings in it when you shook it.

Recheck your measurements. Even if they hold true to your claim. Which I can't believe. Grease the slide rails up with a quality grease like you have in your garage or shed I bet. :) And take her out for a dance. Even with the frame to slide slop my poly pistols have. None have poly frame to slide marks. This tells me the slide assembly, frame and firing mechanism find center.

Good luck and enjoy the M&P. If it's right. It can be a bullseye to full combat weapon. :)

blast,i have checked my measurements several times. there is a good 3/16 side to side play on end of gun.when gun is fully locked shut.that play or wiggle is the slide and barrel to the frame fit.way more than what i am used to,after years of sigs, and hk and 1911 guns. i knew going in there was some looseness. but i did not think i would have as much as i do on this gun

Maybe a loose locking block? Check that all the pins in the frame are in place. I'd give customer service a call.

when slide is pulled back, there is zero to just very minimal movement..
i am just not used to the movement when slide is locked forward..
i dont know if i should shoot it,or send it back to sw before i do fire it.
you guys that say its common to have a 1/8 to 3/16 side to side movement when slide is locked in battery is reassuring.i know my dealer, who can shoot any gun he wants to,swears up and down about the mp.and he has been in the business for 40 years
