Default Couple of issues with my 40 M&P

I have run about 800 rounds through my m&p. I started noticing that on some follow up shots the trigger is lighter than normal. In other words the round fires much sooner than I am use to. Its not a slam fire just a noticeable lesser trigger pull than normal,
Second item to note is that when I load my mag full, it sometimes falls out after a few rounds are fired off, usually in rapid succession. For a long time I never filled up the mag but put about 12 rounds in it without any problem.
Any suggestions?

As to the first problem, I'd say the gun is broke in. The trigger will get a little lighter with use.

The second problem, how old is your M&P? Early models had the same problem. I would send it back.

First issue, The M&P trigger mechanism is very simple so it's unlikely that it is actually getting lighter. I'd say the gun is broken in since there really is no way that mechanically the trigger pull can change from shot to shot like some more complex trigger systems.

Second issue, Early M&P's did have issues with mags dropping free so if your gun is more than 2 years old or so then it should be sent back to S&W for repair. The other possibility is that since it happens during rapid fire you may be accidentally hitting the mag release during recoil.

The mag catch costs about three dollars and takes thirty seconds to change. To me that's a better alternative than having to take off work and drive across town to the FedEx terminal to ship the gun back.

I had the same problem with my mag catch. I called s&w and they sent me a replacement catch. I was told that the original design was made from a softer material that allowed mags to disengage, especially after the pistol had fired several hundred rounds. On a pistol with a mag disconnect, that is a serious issue. YMMV, but for me, that is a deal-breaker.
