Help calming nerves older M&P
I have just realized I have a older M&P. I have heard issues with the "dead Trigger". Mine is an 08 production. Should I be worried or just get over it. Do any of you have an older M&P with any issues. Mine has been perfect in the 150 rounds Ive put through it. Fed HST,Rangers,FMJ,Hydrashocks. Never any issues but was cleaning it and realized I had an older one. It makes me kinda nerxius as this is my main carry piece.Just need help calming my mind. Also heard of springs and striker breaking. Is this an issues I should be concerned with. It has the old style striker in it.

I think that I would contact S&W CS dept. and tell them of your concerns. I understand that their CS is great and they may have you send the gun back to be retrofitted with new firing pin etc. or just send you the parts to DYS.

I have an M&P 9c' (08 also) and have about 7K rounds thru it. No issues at all.
I clean after every firing and have changed out the recoil spring. I did detail strip it just this past January and frankly it just wasn't very dirty. Guess I've been cleaning well enough.
It did give me a chance to examine the internals/springs for wear and all looked well.
This is a carry pistol and I trust it. New springs can break too, and since the springs looked unworn, I didn't replace them.
I'd say if you would feel better having S&W check it out do so. You are betting on it to protect your life.

08 M&P
I too have a 2008 M&P40.
It's had just over 7000 rounds blasted out of it without any issues period. So, what's the dead trigger I need to watch out for?

The dead trigger was caused by a weakened sear plunger and spring. I thing mostly with .40 and .45cal. Not enough juice to return the trigger to firing position.
Here again, I've read about the problem on line but never had a problem or seen any one I know have a problem.
Like most things, you hear about the problems but most people don't experience them. Still, doesn't hurt to know how to analyse the problem.
XTrooper, make mine a double!

My 40 FS is either an 07 or 08. I haven't kept count but it's had at least several thousand rounds with zero issues.

I have taken Troopers advice and no longer worry LOL. I did contact S&W b/c of the roll pins wiggling out and the slide finish wearing after a month. They are sending me a label to return and are onna take a look at the rest of my concerns as well. Thanks everyone for the help.

I bought mine in 2007 and never had a stoppage in 5000 rounds plus. It did shoot low left and the trigger felt like I was squeezing a bag of walnuts. I installed the Apex carry kit and it was like a religeous experience. In the second 50 rds after the kit, my 2 flyers were in the 6 ring at 50 yds.
