Question about the slide release on my M&P9c

I just picked up a m&p9c and noticed that when you lock the slide back and then try and push the slide release down it will not release. You cant pull back on the slide either to make it release but if you pull back on the slide and operate the release at the same time it works.

I have only tried this with the gun unloaded so it might not be a problem with ammo. I really dont know a lot about m&p guns. I traded my g33 for it just to see if i would like it or not.

can anyone give me a crash course on this? Also the take down on this gun is a bit strange compared to most.

If this is happening with an empty mag in the gun this is normal, expected behavior. If you have no mag in the gun the slide lock should release when you pull the slide rearward.

yes it does happen with it is not loaded and does go forward once the mag is out. I appreciate the info. Looking forward to owning my first M&P.
