For my .45C M&P, i have a Safariland ALS paddle. Love it. very comfortable for OWB, and i would suggest an ALS if carrying OWB.
As you say, not very good for concealment (especially in the summer months), but if you are looking for OWB, check them out.

The most comfortable paddle holster I have ever used is the Kramer MSP. Might work well for you also. kramerleather.com
Not the cheapest holster on the market but well worth the money and then some.

+1 on Kramer. His holsters in horse hide are the best. I also carry with the Comp-tac kydex paddle holster. Comfortable and works very well. Comp-tac is a good company to deal with and will have your holster out to you in 1-2 weeks along with a good price. Bill

I use the Blackhawk also. Comes with interchangeable paddle and belt loops. I use the one for both full size and compact.

I have the Blackhawk Serpa. I don't CC, and didn't get it for that intent, it looks too stand-offish to me. How well does it conceal for those of you who use it?
I do like the holster, it is comfortable and secure.
I got an Uncle Mikes IWB size 5 for my son to use for CC with his Beretta PX4. It fits my M&P 9 well, and is comfortable in the back of my waistband.

I found I really like the Safariland 568 paddle. It's a suede lined hybrid Kydex/Leather holster that comes with the belt loop attachment and the tool if you want to swap out the paddle.
Custom Fit Holster :: HOLSTERS.COM
I bought one for a 4" L frame Revolver and it conceals fairly well under an un-tucked shirt or sport coat.

I just went through this with my .40C. Have you looked on the S&W website? I believe DeSantis makes the one for the M&P which comes with the M&P logo branded into it. I just bought that one and have no complaints thus far. Check it out.

We sell a bunch of these in the store...
Fobus Holster: S&W M&P 9mm, .40, .45 and SD9/SD40 - EVOLUTION PADDLE HOLSTER
Feels great but normally I just carry in the store when working. I wear a M&P 9C. Great tension adjuster system. Our customers like them!

Safariland 5378 or 6378 - the 5378 rides a little closer to the body for easier concealment, but the 6378 has stronger retention. They're cheap enough, buy both.

I have the Fobus Evolution paddle holster that rags mentioned above & it works great. I forget what the list price is for it but I got it on a deep discount when I picked up my M&P40C. I know they're not expensive. It also fits the FS M&P40 & probably most of not all M&P FS or compacts like the 45 & 45C. With full size M&Ps the barrel sticks out of the bottom a little bit. Not a problem. Mine is showing no signs of wear in the 8 months I've had it with just about everday use. I have 3 other holsters but I like this one the best.

What he said.
I just got the 5378 for my shield. Now I have both. The 5378 is my new favorite.

Fobus can be found at Walmart.com (good pricing) if that is what you want. I have considered the Fobus shell for a IWB mod I may do to my AG hybrid.
And with Walmart if you don't like it, they can almost always be returned to a store which makes it pretty easy. Keep your receipt.

Add this to the mix Panther Concealment Custom Kydex Holsters and Knife Sheaths
They are in Jacksonville, FL
I describe it as a cross between a traditional paddle and a pancake holster. You get the convenience and speed of the paddle, but the conceal ability of a traditional belt-slot pancake. I almost always carry with just a tee. Pics available if needed.
I have 2. Empty holster drawer.

Safariland! I have one for 1911s and must say it carries a large, heavy firearm with ease. Imagine how well it would carry something light.
Good Luck and good shooting.

ginzo - which one are you referring too? I'd love to try one of the IWB models like theirs but for the M&P .40 FS. I still think it would require at least a 2" wide belt clip, however. I do want anything IWB to be tuckable too.

Both of mine are OWB, a FS .40 and a 40c. Actually the .40c fit the FS but sans the shorter barrel worked great. I wanted the .40c one for the Exact fit.
They are going to work with me on a 638 IWB when I finally find one as that is not one of there production models.
Shoot them an e-mail and tell them your situation. Jim or Scott will reply, check your junk/spam folder as the reply may land there.
Chuck
P.S. I am southpaw. Both are OWB FBI cant. I have required bathroom pics if you need to see how tight they hold. Also they hang on a Ridgidholsters belt, but I'm sure any gun related belt would work out.
