Default TAC Light/Lasers for FS M&P

I am considering getting a Light/Laser such as the ITAC or L3 Insight. Are these easy to attach to the rail so they will stay put with recoil on a 40?

Insight makes very good products, but if you have the chance to, you might want to take a look at Verdian's green laser--tac light combos. They have been pretty much in the forefront of green lasers and that's important, as the green type take a bit more 'tech' than the red. Their tac lights are pretty fine too--aircraft grade construction, tolerances, like the laser. I have their C5L, and it fits great on everything I've got with a rail--from a full sized 45, to a subcompact and in between--on the S.C.,'s it doesn't even extend beyond the muzzle--I like how it looks neat and tidy--not just staying on, but staying accurate. It swaps out in minutes from gun to gun, comes with a few different mount pieces if you have an 'unusual' S&W, Glock, Sig, HK etc, but it really fits a whole lot of guns and is uber easy to mount and if needed, to quickly 'fine tune'--and again, it KEEPS the accurate settings over 100's of rounds. I pretty much mount it---may check the settings for accuracy, but usually not even necessary--I kinda 'set it and forget it' unless my shot groupings on paper seem a bit off, then in a few minutes--I've got it zeroed in.

I like how it being small, I don't have to clean gunpowder residue off too much--espec. on my full size 45. I'm in a hurry right now, but as I recall, the wee small but very well built tac light is 100+ lumens steady, and either 110 or 120 lumens in strobe--enough intense light in fixed or strobe to give someone a head ache, and seeing spots in seconds even in daylight--they're conservative on their ratings, while some companies aren't. Don't flame me if those specs are a wee bit off--it's 4th of July and I'm having a good time---in a hurry, getting ready for fireworks, etc. The button set up is the best I think w/ Veridian--common sensical and just in front of the trigger guard, where my finger already is for starters. I choose the setting I prefer, then hit the button again to 'lock it in', then every time I hit that button once, it goes back to that exact setting. Or--on the fly, I can change settings in seconds, using the two buttons. I keep the laser on pulse and tac light to fast pulse as I like that for a home defense setting--in low light or dark, it'll freak out & disorient any perp in a second, but I can change it to steady tac light/ steady laser or whatever in 2-3 seconds. Simple, neato, completo.

Again, Streamlight's great too and a few other companies are good too, (beware some Chinese outfits) but after doing a lot of homework, Veridian was my choice for a durable, acurate and versatile tac light/laser. Even Crimson Trace has gone to green lasers on their military/tactical assault rifle lasers, if that tells you anything. Kermit the frog said "It isn't easy being Green"--but I sure like it! Again, if memory serves, the lasers good out to 200 yards--amazing--I can hardly see my red lasers in day light, even with fresh batteries. My buddy is the SWAT Team Captain with our city's PD --he tried it out, placed aim and immedietely spotted the green laser dot on a house chimney 6 doors down, in broad day light and was sold on it. I was down in the Florida Keys, using it in full sunlight, shooting coconuts--(actually their STEMs) out of some pretty tall trees last December!

Try optics planet, amazon and Veridian has a slick site too, to 'research'. Veridian's gradually introducing some gun specific tac loc holsters on their site to accomodate the specific gun and tac light combo you might like, paired together. They have security two level built into the holster for the whole unit/s in holster together, so while if you've got a thumb, YOU can quick draw--but some nut job can't pull it out w/o knowing the thumb button's actually easy operation. Of course by then, you've surely kneed the cretin in the balls, done the 'Mexican Hat Dance' on his head and called the cops anyway--tis a shame to waste ammo and have them confiscate your prized 'pea picker' while the judicial system slowly plays out, before they'll return your gun to you.

Hope I helped--I think my specs cited are pretty accurate, but hey, as this is the 4th of July, cook outs and all, so I could be wizer, bud--if you catch my drift....Spy before you buy! I think I paid $276 total for my C5L from Optic's P.--worth every penny!--They will bargain a bit--even w/ civilians like me.....

Thanks for the reply. The reason I ask is that I had trouble years ago putting a Weaver scope on a Ruger 357 revolver. It looked easy and was easy but the scope had to be reset after each shot!

I have this one and like it. In the photo the laser is hard to see but it works great.

I switched this over to a FS M&P 40 for a while then got the 45 M&P with a 14 round mag and now it is on it.

You can take it on and off and the zero stays the same, unless you put it on another gun of course.
I also have grip lasers and the light separate. I like the lasers and have them on all my carry guns.

My family’s guns too.
