M&P 22's coming
They're in stock at Buds and several other places. I just placed my order for the 12 round model.

Wait a minute... I just went to Buds and didn't see them... They have the 22A, but I don't see any M&P22.

Out of stock. Also, they have the wrong item number. S&W's site says its #222000. Buds has #220000 so searching doesn't help

Well the price went up $7 since I ordered it last night. I paid $357.
I normally wait a few months for new things like this but I had to jump on this one. I hope I don't regret it. I am kind of expecting it to need an update like the 15-22 did.
Seems like everyone starting selling these at the same time. Wonder if S&W shipped them and told the retailers they could start selling them on the 3rd.

A couple of well done videos of what looks to be a really neat 22. I'm first on my dealers waiting list so I hope he gets one soon.

Kinda looks like the piece on the end of the barrel is identical to the P22. If thats the case..........can you say suppressor adaptor???
If so, I'm just gonna HAVE to get one of these!!

My dealer made an inquiry with S&W yesterday as to the status of their order. Today the factory replied that the M&P 22s have a 6000 unit back order. So those lucky few that locate one are fortunate.

I'd say to call around as I found one after calling 15 of my LGS. If one is really desperate there are a couple of them on gunbroker if you don't mind the shipping & FFL fees.

Well, since they were showing the M&P at the Shot Show in January, S&W should have had a lot of time to have many pistols manufactured in Germany. My question is, why did it take so long? I'm going to my LGS to place an order today. It may end up my Christmas present.
Another thing, I see they're shipping with only one mag. That kinda stinks. Come on, S&W!

I did it!
I did it! I put a deposit down on the M&P 22. Dealer said one of his suppliers has 500 on order. I guess I'll see it sometime in December. That's all right. I have gloves.

If you search for M&P22 it pulls up listings for the 15-22 as well as the sellers seem to include the M&P22 nomenclature for some reason. When I was looking before finding one locally I'd normally search for the S&W SKU of 222000 - which pulls up 2 listings.

Let us know what you think of it when you shoot it. How does it appear quality wise in hand?

The first 6,000 were delivered at the beginning of the month and 95% were already sold. The next 6,000 aren't scheduled until late September and supposedly there are enough orders already in that it has already been sold.
I couildn't stand it so I bought one off of GunBroker. There were two advertised there with the sale ending Sunday afternoon.
There are three of them on Gunbroker right now. The cheapest "buy it now" is $310.00. The other two are both listed at $379.00
Use "M&P 22" in the search term under the pistol category

The M&P 22 looks pretty good. The internals, from what I can see, look exactly like the Walther P22. There were some bugs with the Walther in the beginning but those have been mostly sorted out now. The Smith should be good to go out of the box.

Picked up the last one at my local shop yesterday…
It’s replacing my Sig Mosquito as the suppressor host for my Gemtech Outback-II
Now I need extra mags….
Anyone know if mags are available yet?????
All Google searches only yield results for M&P 15-22 mags… Ugggggg!

When I asked at 44mag.com about them the reply was that they expected them in a few weeks but that no date was available. That was on 8/10/11.

Smith & Wesson in their sales literature for the new M&P 22's list the frame as being made of metal. Does anybody know what kind of metal? Could it be zinc or pot metal that will deteriate over time?
I tried calling Smith yesterday and today but they are busy after returning from a vacation shut down. Nobody available to answer questions
