Very nice job and great looking guns. How do you apply the Duracoat? Did you bake the finish after application?
That looks great! I once traded for a Sig P229 with a duracoated slide. It wasn't durable at all and the finish looked horrible within weeks. I'm assuming they didn't mix it right, as your XD has obviously held up!
Is there a secret or did you find it pretty simple to "mix as directed...."
Lacquer thinner works fine for both thinning the paint and degreasing the part AND for cleaning your airbrush, spray bottles, measuring apparatus...Lacquer thinner is the only stuff I've found besides DuraCoat's outrageously expensive Cleaner/Thinner that will clean your equipment when you're done.Airmech74
When you degreased your firearm did you use the duracoat degreaser or did you buy a spray degreaser from a local source? I have ordered everything except the duracoat paint and am wondering if you could use another degreaser, since duracoat gets like $16.50 for 1 can! I have at least 6 firearms that are going to be duracoated and I didn't want to spend a fortune on their degreaser!
