Default Sorry, Glock.... But she went M&P....

But she chose the M&P9c instead of the G19 or the G26. The 19 was a Gen 4 model and she said the new frame texture was eating the skin on her hand and was just too bulky. The 26 was a Gen 3 and had a grip extension on it. She said the recoil was just too snappy for her, and she did manage to limp wrist it a few times causing it to jam. No, that wasn't the gun's fault, but it just wasn't the gun for her. Then we moved to a Ruger SR9c. She just couldn't get used to the grip in her hand. I wish they had a LC9 to rent, but they only have so many rentals to pick through. Then she shot the M&P and I saw the smile. Her very first center fire handgun. She picks it up next Thursday.

And now it's Thursday!!!

Yep, I'm envious...

"She" is gonna be very happy. My wife tried my Glock 30 with Lasermax guide rod laser and then "my" M&P 9c. Guess what she wants to buy for "her" new M&P?

I like my Glock 26 for a backup but carry my M&P9 most of the time, it is full sized but today I got my new M&P40c and will probably carry it instead.

S&W M&P's are great weapons hands down, and I will be getting a 45 model of these great feeling weapons within the next 2 months!

I rented a Glock 19 today and an M&P 9. I shot 50 rounds through the Glock first but could get used to the trigger.

then I put 50 rounds through M&P and it felt good. I plan to get it primarily for the range since 9mm is cheap to shoot. I may still look at a Sig but so far this is it.

Same thing at my house, wifey looked at several pocket guns, chose a hand full to rent, and didn't like any of them. On a lark, she rented a M&P9c, because she likes my full size M&P. Then she was sold, just have to wait for it to come in now.

Although I am an admitted "Glockaholic", my wife does not like the feel of Glocks at all. Her choice is an M&P. Smith does make a fine gun, no doubt about it. Congrats to your wife.

Thursday pick up complete with pic added!!!

(Not that they look very different, but this one is hers...)

So is the TLR-3 the favored light for the M&Pc's??? That's the one I'm siding with so far.

Picked up the M&P 15 Sport today and I am very happy with it it's different to shoot than the pistols I have had. I really like it. Fun to shoot great features for the money and I can easily customize it down the road.

To the OP, good job letting her pick her favorite after shooting several options.

If only more of us know-it-all gun guys would do this. Unfortunately, most of us pick the wrong gun and it doesn't work out in the end.

OBTW, mine was just the opposite of yours and picked a Gen 3 GLOCK 19 for the bedside table, and a Gen 4 GLOCK 26 for carry.

Funny thing, I love my G19 Gen 3 but I'm planning on getting a M&P9 or maybe a Shield in a couple of months. For variety's sake, of course.

How can you choose a Glock over the feel of an M&P? Not that the Glock is a bad pistol, but the M&P is far better user friendly over it. I find it hard to conceal a 2X4 in my waistband over my Shield. And the Shield shoots spot on, and has given me zero problems. Even my 40c is better to carry over my Glock.

The 9c is my favorite. My wife likes the Shield.

The 9c is the most accurate and easiest to shoot for me.

However, I have always wanted I Glock. But, every time I go to get one I end up with a M&P.

Love my M&Pc. It's hard to believe how good the ergonomics are on the M&P pistol line.

Love my M&P 9C w APEX DCAEK and love my G19 Gen3. Appendix Carry both faithfully in a GCode INCOG holster. Not the same guns. G26 more in size to 9C than G19.
Just saying.

Keep in mind I'm not bashing Glock. They just weren't the guns for her.

Default Passed over a Glock 30

The day I bought my M&P Pro Core .40, I fully intended to buy a Glock 30 that day. I felt a couple in my hand and they just didn't feel right to me. It was like holding a brick. Then I saw the Pro Core in the case and ask to hold it. It was a match made in heaven. Felt natural and very comfortable in my hand. Needless to say, the rest is history. I haven't looked back or been sorry I made this decision.

The ergonomics of the M&P are superior for sure. Unfortunately, it currently is an unreliable handgun for self defense. My dept. went to it for new recruits and had to change back to Glock due to numerous malfunctions. The plastic S&W chose to use is not of good quality apparently. The followers in the magazines weaken after minimal use and fail. Ammunition within the magazines have been flipping up, causing malfunctions. I believe eventually this will be remedied, but not for a while.

If it is a magazine issue then the problem belongs to MecGar and will be fixed quickly ...

I like the baby GLOCKs (I have both a G26 & G27) however, if I could only keep one it would be the mid sized G19.

I strongly prefer the M&P series and the Ruger SR series to the Glock, for many reasons.

Holy way to resurrect a 2 year old thread, Batman!

Still, this IS one of those topics (Ford vs. Chevy, 9 vs. 45) that's impossible to get tired of debating.

What dept was that? It sounds as the gun functioned fine, the magazines were the issue... makes no sense to not fix that as the magazines have not been a problem since the beginning of the M&P line... a bad batch of anything is easily fixed.

It's a great topic though... anytime I can share how much I love my M&P's... is a good day. My latest M&P45c is amazing. Shot it yesterday for the first time, flawless function of course along with virtually no kick!! Can you tell I been carrying and shooting the Shield 40....

Being woman we have purses and aren't using the waist band!!! LOL But in all seriousness I couldn't grip the double stack Glocks hence my love for the single stack 3rd gens Smiths.

Weird, what about the people who have thousands of rounds through their M&P's with no issues? I personally have about 800 rounds through my 9c and have no issues.

My son has the SR9 and the SR9C, and they both are fine weapons. The compact will actually outshoot the full sized up to 15 yards. Very nice trigger on the compact as well.

Wichita, Ks. Numerous problems with M&P been dealt with for last two years. Magazine still current issue. A few veteran officers chose to stick with the M&P but most, including new recruits have gone back to Glock.

I'd say you were lucky. We had several hundred 9mm M&P's put into service and they were wrought with problems, which caused staff to make a change finally last year.
