Default Factory Night Sights - Who makes 'em?

I bought aftermarket Trijicon night sites for my M&P9c, and the cost was $162 (including installation). So I figure my next M&P purchase might have the factory night sights if it means I can save some money.

Are the standard factory tritium night sights made by Trijicon? Secondly, are the factory sights as good as the Trijicon Bright & Tough model?

Thanks...

I think S&W uses Trijicons for their night sights on the M&P's. My 40L has tritium sites from the factory and I have installed a couple sets of Trijicon SA37 sights. Functionally there is no difference. Overall size is the same and both have the same light output. Rear sights come from different molds though as the factory part has the M&P designation cast in.

FWIW, the Trijicons are $110 from Amazon and installation is easy.

Thanks for the info. I bought SA37 on Amazon too ($112 at the time). I had the gunsmith install them since I read somewhere that the front sight had to be pressed it, and I do not have a press.

You don't need a press, just a good fitting punch, Loctite 620, and patience. The only trick is to get the fit just right by sanding the bottom of the sight.

I put Trijicon sights on my .40fs just using a metal punch and clamping the slide in a vice. I put some brass between the site and the punch because I just couldn't find a brass punch. Any used brass casings will work.

When I ordered my 9c I knew I would carry that so I ordered it with night sights. $455 delivered with the night sights makes it a no brainer.... Besides, they should have the same lifetime warranty when you buy them from S&W.

Love the night sights. This summer I'll be doing some night shooting at the range.

My 4.25" Pro series does have the trijicon name on the sights, hope that helps.

Usually all warranties count from the day of purchase. Not the day of production.

Advise me if I'm wrong...

The warranty card packed with my Trijicon's states lifetime warranty on iron parts then:

"The tritium lamps in this product are warrantied against breakage for a period of 12 years from the date of original manufacture date"

But the product literature clearly states:

"Tritium filled glass lamp provides superior illumination that is guaranteed to last at least 12 years."

That's the number I have always seen, 12 years and I believe it is from date of manufacture. It is a perishable item so you really can't hold that against them.
