my new pro series 9mm mag followers are getting hung up on the mag release cut outs on the mag body. does any body have any experience with this? its a new gun i only got to shoot it once and this happened. i am using factory ammo if that matters and did switch the release over to the right side of the gun (from the factory setting)

Yes, I experienced that issue. Followers are most likely hanging on mag catch not edges of cutout.

Solution was to buy replacement catches (new ones did not protrude into mag as far) and grind tab on catch down a bit. Remove slide, remove spring and follower from gun, and insert mag tube into frame so you see what you are dealing with. Also polished corner of follower to remove molding gate.

Several thousand rounds since these mods and no issues.

thanks i will try that , where did you get replacement mag catches? i emailed S&W several weeks ago but got no response. I'm right handed but like to drop the mag with my trigger finger.

How did I know? With the mag catch coming in from the left side of the gun it contacts the corner of the follower that is not only taller but has a molding spru in the plastic. Those two conditions just makes it easier for the tab to catch.

If you don't have I would pickup some followers while you are there.

Btw, the tab on the mag release is very hard but I did manage to take some material off and smooth the edges.

I have the same problem, but it only happens when the mag release is on the right side, when I switch to left side its ok, put a caliper on it, the mag slot on the left side is cut deeper, it protrudes into the mag lock slot and blocks the fowler with four rounds still in the mag, talked to S&W they said someone must have removed the label on the package messed with the mag and replaced there seal.

Follower hang up all cleared up, contacted S&W and they sent a new mag release it's a working fine now, what they did was modified the lock bar from squire to a bar that has a forty five degree cut on the outside end, now it doesn't pertrued into the magazine as deep and hang up the follower.
