I have three that fit my M&P40C one is a Black Hawk Serpa holster that I use at the range and around the house! Even though you can pay up to $50 for them Academy Sports has them online for $29.99 and I picked one up for $24 at the local store!
Academy - Blackhawk!® Sportster SERPA Concealment Holster
I also have a Minotaur MTAC IWB that I wear at 4 O'clock and it is quite comfortable however they are about $92 with shipping and handling.
I also have another IWB called the Shielded Holster that is similar to the MTAC and less costly and slightly less comfortable!

Thanks Houdini. Was leaning toward the comp-tac minotaur. Yes little pricy, but oh well if its worth the comfort.

Highly recommend the MTAC. Comfortable and does hide well.

Ditto! I have the blackhawk fits my FS 40 PRO (4.25) and my 40c for home and range..and the MTAC with the slide kydex that also fits both and makes carrying my FS concealed very manageable if I choose to do so.

If you like the Minotaur, but not the price, Cleveland Holsters has a lower cost model. I said lower cost, not lower quality. Check them out! They make custom, or off the rack. I have an M&P fulsize, but I ordered one for an M&P 9c which I will have shortly. Anyway check them out! You also have the option of either cowhide or Horsehide for $49 or $59 respectively.

I'm carrying my 9c in a DeSantis Intruder that I picked up on eBay for less than $45 shipped.

Since I'll never convince anyone that the "one best" holster doesn't exist. I'm just going to start posting my own holster and giving it the name "The Best Holster Ever!*" *Really it's just my copy of a Milt Sarks Axiom OWB.
So here you go, this is The Best Holster Ever!* for the M&P 9/40/357Sig! It can also be made in a Compact version. This one has Frogskin trim but can also be done with Elephant or plain ol Cowhide.

IWB is a Crossbreed or Theis. OWB is a RGrizzle leather. Georgia Snap version to be exact. Have some of both to fit quite a few of my weapons.
That is a very nice holster, markush.

I daily carry a S&W M&P40c, I did carry a M&P40 FS but when Mass came out with the compact I bought that and now the fullsize is my house gun.
I would say go with a High Noon Holster and Belt.
High Noon Holsters
I have their Sky High Holster and their Rock Steady Belt. Both are great units and I wear everyday and it rides great.
It takes some time to get their better made lined holster but it's well worth the wait. Their "in stock" holster are well made also, they are just not as well made as their "hand molded/lined" holster.
I will be putting an order in soon for one of their "Skin Tite" holsters to use as my "beater holster" for the times around the house when I'm out side working or watching out for the bears or coyotes.
I just bought (well got free with my Cabela points) a Galco KingTuk
Galco holsters; Holsters; Gun holster, pistol holsters, western holsters, shoulder holsters, leather holster and Glock holsters
for the very few times that I have to carry that way, I like it so far but I still like my High Noon better.

I carry the Blackhawk CQC Holster with the index finger release. You can find them almost anywhere online from 40 to 50 bucks but well worth every penny.

Everyone has their own favorites. I just bought a 40c yesterday. ( my second, 1st was a full size 9mm). Anyway, I have a beautiful holster from Adams leatherworks (google them) As good or better than some of the best makers out there for less $ and much shorter wait time.

There IS NO best holster for anyone or any gun. You need to determine what you want/need for your gun and your requirements. Do you need On the belt, in the waistband, shoulder, ankle, etc.
What materials do you want leather? Kydex? Hybrid? Do you need a retention strap? Do you carry for short time, medium time or for long periods of time where personal comfort is mandatory.
It is hard to go wrong with the major manufacurers like Bianchi, Galco, Gould & Goodrich, DeSantis, etc.If you have the funds available then step up to Milt Sparks, Kramer, High Noon etc.
Essentially you will get what you pay for in a holster........
