M&P shortage?
After recently placing an order for a M&P9 range kit, i was told it was going to be a while before it came in. While waiting around for it for a month I started googleing to see if anyone else had the same experience. I came across some other threads claiming others had to wait 6 months before their shipment arrived. Some claim that S&W landed contracts in Europe that they are stuggling to fill, therefore reducing civilian production to one day a week. Does anyone have any real insight on this? I still have not gotten a ball park time on my shipment.

Why wait for the range kit when you can buy an M&P 9 without the range kit and get the holster and mag pouches from BladeTech which is where M&P gets them?

I had to search for a while last year to find one in stock. Almost gave up and did what the previous posted said, but with the extra mag and UpLula you can't match the price. Its worth the wait. Keep an eye on budsgunshop.com for the kit. I just checked a few times each day for a month or so and snatched one up asap.

The reason I was going for the kit was because of the price. I think I will give it a couple more weeks, and if I still cant get an answer time wise, I will just put my money on something else. Then I would save the M&P for next year.

I know the LEO (factory direct agency purchase) wait is almost 2-3 months now. I get the same story that contract purchases are taking up a lot of production time. Personally, it makes me happy that an American company is having trouble keeping up with the overseas demand. So I will just sit and wait patiently so I can make sure my money (and my department's money) stays in the USA.

I just bought an M&P9 range & carry kit (first S&W too!) from a local gun show. Only one vendor at the show had the kit and it was the only one left too. Your best bet may be to find somewhere local to get it. Call around to S&W vendors, try your local gun shows, etc. If you haven't already that is

I just picked up a M&P9 Range Kit on Friday at my LGS. I don't know the build date but the test date was 01-11-2012. The manager said that he had only had the M&P9 for a few days before I bought it. I've given it a good cleaning and now I need to get to the range and put some rounds through it.

I had to wait a month to get my 9c LE pkg. It was worth it.

I have read where a lot of foreign agencies are buying M&Ps. This is good news.

Do you think a company like smith and wesson will let quality suffer while trying to get truck loads of product out the door?

I have the same feelings, that fact that people all over the world are trusting their lives to American products is a good feeling. It's one of the big reason why I went with Smith over Glock as well, the added fact that it's a darn good handgun is also pretty cool

The reason to buy the range and carry kit is definitley price. Fleet and Farm stores here in Wi are selling the M&P 40 (just the gun) for $489. I paid $500 for the kit that has the mag holder, holster, speed loader, and ear plugs for $11 more. Add all the items up seperately and it's a great deal.

With all this talk of shortages I was surprised to see FS 9&40s available in the CDNN Sports Catalog for $425 and $399 for 357SIG.

Where did you pick that up from? Fleet Farm? Fleet Farm's prices did surprise me. Until I went there I didn't realize how much Gander ripped you off.

After shooting my 1st M&P at a IDPA match recently, I don't see any future Glock purchases for me. Only reason I'm not selling off the Glocks I have is that at the rate DC is printing money, the Glocks will probably hold their value better than the paper. Good to see S&W doing well.

The Range and Carry kit I ordered from a local gun shop. It took a while for the order to be filled, however it was worth the wait. I couldn't find one available anywhere so I decided to order one and get on the list for deliveries. I called S&W and they told me which distributors actually had them on hand. Might be worth a try.

No supply issues at the Nations Gun Show. S&W's of all shapes, sizes, calibers, and barrel lengths in stock, being bought, and carried out the door in the hands of new owners. Must be that the high demand is requiring S&W to send more supply here because of our gun friendly philosophy

I paid 529 for my full size m&p 40, gun only. I couldnt find a range kit and got tired of waiting. Was talking with several shops and the kit had a 6+ month wait.

All handguns are selling like mad now. Many women are taking CCW courses and getting permits to carry. I am having trouble finding 9mm ammo locally without paying $13/50 (or more). ARs are also selling well as are AK-47's. I am tempted to suggest it is the current anti gun administration and certainly that is part of it, but there is more to it IMO. I paid $500 otd for my M&P9 FS. I was aware of CDNN's price and I should have ordered one there. I probably could have saved $30-40. I have not seen many M&Ps in Asheville. I will look around at the Gun show in a week and a half. Kimbers are selling well also. A local dealer got 3 new Ultra CDP IIs in and sold them in under a month. This is a $1200 otd gun! This dealer waited probably for a year for these guns. That tends to make the dealers harder to deal with (higher prices). The prices I see online for Bud's do not seem like bargains to me. You have to add about $40 for shipping and transfer (here anyway).

Yea I just got a 40fs from CDNN out the door for $448 shipped. I saw the date of when the gun was fired at the factory...06-14-10!! Gun has been sitting awhile I presume?? Love the feel of it already and it's weight is amazingly light. Waiting for the time to shoot it, I work 60 hours a week =[
