Default Anyone make a speed loader for M&P22 mags?

I saw this for buckmark and Ruger marks.

then saw some custom stuff on ebay:

Beretta U22 Neos Pistol Magazine Loader .22 Caliber | eBay

Woodsman Ruger MKI&II HiStandard .22 Magazine Loader | eBay

Beretta 21A - .22LR Bobcat Magazine Loader Loading Aid | eBay

thought it would be super easy to do something like this for M&P22 mags. anyone tried yet?

You really don't need one.The mags load super easy and have a thumb assist on the side.

Granted you really don't need one because the spring in the mag isn't strong enough to require one. But you have to be careful using a thumb to push down the side button as the slot (at least on my mags) is very sharp and will give you a nasty cut.

Even though I use the baby uplula, I still gave the sharp edges on my mags a quick rub down to smooth them out.

...a .22 caliber pistol I will many times place a band-aid around the tip of my weak hand's thumb. Better before than after =)

Thumbs up

Just bought the Baby Uplula. Works awesome and is well worth the money...as is the larger Universal Uplula (9mm-.45). Worth their weight in gold. Just my 2 cents worth.

My buddy has the coolest one I have ever seen and it works slicker than snot on a glass door knob! it is made by Mcfadden and he got it from Midway USA. He slides a cover to the side dumps a box of .22 in it then he shakes it around a bit and then inserts his Ruger mkI mag into this slot the same size as a magazine and it fills the dang thing instantly! His works with Ruger and Browning mags and I think it fits others so you should check it out. I am going to order one as soon as I can. He said it was only $20.00.

he has an ultimate clip loader. so do i. its for Rugers. i actually have been in contact with the makers and asked if they would do a M&P22 version. they said they are working on a version with changeable ports to use with different mags. i told them to be sure to look at the M&P since i knew it would be popular.

One of those with a changeable port would be absolutely cool. I can't beleive how well this thing works. If they could build one those for 9mm &40 I would own one of those also.

Default M&P22 pistol mag loader mod for HKS 22S.

New member here, looks like time to jump in. I just modified an HKS model 22 S magazine loader (as shown above, and $3-5 everywhere) so it will work with M&P 22 pistol magazines. The HKS model 22 S loader for the S&W model 41, 422, etc. magazine has the correct side to side opening for the M&P 22 magazine, but is too tight front to back. Using a 3/8 inch wide triangular file, I opened the loader to fit my M&P 22 magazines, and it still works fine for my model 41 / 422 magazines.

The picture shows an unmodified loader on the left, and the modified one on the right. The inside of loader was filed in two places. First, the top/back of the loader was relieved to provide the additional clearance needed to start the magazine into the loader. Then, the front of the loader was "squared" to clear the magazine latch bump on the front of the M&P 22 pistol magazine.

Start with the rear clearance, at the top of the thumb rest. File it back to the top of the first step on the thumb rest, keeping it square on top but angled towards the inside of the loader. I hope the picture shows this fairly clearly. The loader has a projection inside on one side. It could probably be removed for M&P use only, but I left it in place. File a little, check fit a lot. The plastic material files cleanly but slowly. Use a wire brush to clean the file frequently. Relieve the back of the loader until a magazine can be inserted up to the magazine catch bump with light pressure. If it were not for the magazine catch bump, you would be done now.

Next, to provide clearance for the catch bump, the front inside of the loader must be filed square, or nearly so. I used the triangular file to avoid the little projection inside of the loader. With a magazine partially inserted, study the angles of the loader and the magazine from the side to see where to file, as nothing sets quite square. The front part of the loader is the thinnest stock to be filed. I cut that area deeper than I would now recommend, thinking I needed a fully square notch for the mag catch bump in order to get the right fit. A stronger approach would be to leave a little bit of the rounded portion showing in front, squaring just enough to clear the catch bump ears, and then remove more material from the thicker, thumb rest portion as needed to get the desired fit. Again, file a little, check a lot. I prefer a fairly loose fit so the magazine spring will push the loader up.

The tail of the loader is not designed to catch on the bottom of the mag base, it seems to provides tension and alignment. By the way, I am delighted with the M&P 22 pistol and its 9mm brother. Thanks to everyone here for their tips and info!

I just sent them an email with another request for a loader for the M&P22 pistol. Hopefully they will start getting more requests and make one.

I had done the same thing, modified one to fit the M&P22, several months ago, when I first got my M&P22.

I did end up cutting off the "leg" on the bottom.

My thoughts as well. Push the thumb assist down... Slide rounds into mag. Release thumb assist gently.

Could try out the baby uplula... I like my uplula that came with my range and carry kit, which I've used a few times.

A Tic-Tac container works pretty good when you cut the bottom out of it.

Thumbs up Hilljak.com Quickie Loader for S&W 22LR

I found Hilljak Quickie loader works best for loading 22LR magazines - Saves your thumbs! you can keep it on your key chain too. Hilljak will actually custom design a magazine loader for you if you don't see one specifically for your gun and they are made in USA! I just contacted them, really nice guys.

Am I missing something? I've probably loaded 3k-4k rounds in my 22 mags and I have never even considered needing a device to help load the ammo. I use an uplula for my 9 & 40 but the 22 loads quick and easy for me.

Got on of these on Amazon for about $9. Works well for my M&P-22.

Limiting magazine capacities is about as effective as limiting the size of beer bottles.

I got a McFadden Ultimate Clip Loader and modified it to work with the magazines for my Ruger SR22 - has to make port where the mag is inserted shorter and enlarged the opening for both width and height of the mag - and reshaped the feed point for the difference in angle. I sent notes and pictures to McFadden since the gal I spoke to there suggested they might be interested in making a version or working with Speed Beez to have the take the stock product and modify it - but so far they have indicated that they are not interested. The SR22 mags are shorter, wider, and thicker than the magazines for which the McFadden product was designed.

Question

Anyone know if any companies have come out with anything new for loading M&P 22 magazines? I am spoiled by the McFaden that I use for my Ruger 22/45 magazines and think I might shoot that one more than my M&P 22 just because it's so much faster and easier to load the magazines for it.

Edit: I also went ahead and emailed McFaden to ask for an Ultimate ClipLoader that fit the MP22 magazines. Everyone else do it so we can get that adapter moved to the front of the line for the new version 2 model. Just email to [email protected] with something like "Need ClipLoader for S&W MP22" in the subject and a sentence or two in the body of the email asking them to make an adapter for the new model ClipLoader they're working on.
