M&P - Coming April 12th
Does anyone know what M&P is being released on April 12th? I recently purchased the 9mm Pro w/5" but want to buy another M&P "C".
Information is posted on S&W M&P website...

The thought going around is that it will be a single stack sub compact 9mm to compete with the Kahr PM/CM series or the Ruger LC9 or other guns along the same line. We will have to wait and see.

Guess I have to wait until after April 12 to decide if I'm getting a Walther PPS.

Are we certain this new M&P is going to be a pistol? Tom Gresham hinted on his radio show last week that a large, major firearms manufacturer is going to announce they will be coming out with a 308/7.62 AR style rifle in April. I know Tom is real big on S&W products and the M&P pistols seem to be a favorite of his. Could this new M&P be an extension of their rifle line?

At the SHOT show in January, an S&W rep in the LE section said they were bringing out single stack pistols for the CC market. They were supposed to unveil at SHOT but pulled at the last minute. Makes sense they would introduce at NRA. He said nothing about rifles, but that could be part of the announcement too.

I had read about that somewhere but now the internet seems to have been scoured clean of that info.

They must be pressured to keep this hush hush. I've been communicating with a Smith and Wesson customer rep and when I asked yesterday, this is the response I received:
"yes there was a teaser trailer up on our website that appeared to be for a new M&P product. However we don’t find anything out down here in customer service before the general public so I’m looking forward to it just as much as you are!"

Based on the video, it seems focused more on concealed carry. Although I would love to see a S&W AR in a larger cal.

I would put my money on a line of single stack pistols as it looks like SA has a line coming out as well.

Single stacks would be huge for the M&P. They will not be able to produce them fast enough.

In Feb. I seen and held the NEW single stack M&P, they were waiting to get a good supply in house ready before they released it to the distributors, the one I held didn't have any markings on it and there isn't a SKU number yet.
I will say though, I will have one as soon as they come out, very very nice, super comfortable, they did their home work on this one !

That's not very encouraging....it took me 6 months of looking every damn damn day to locate my first M&P 9MM 5" Pro Series...

I'm betting the template that Smith and others follow is along the lines of the XD(S) .45 ACP - about 1" wide, bigger than pocket pistol size, and with decent sights.

Well hopefully they have learned from other manufacturers shortcomings, and have an enormous supply of them. Normally I don't like being a BETA tester for firearms (had a bad experience with being first in line for the LCP), but I really need a single stack M&P

I am going to wait for the reports before getting one. My guess is they will probably be hard to find and priced at a premium at first but should be available at normal discounts in a few months or if they have problems some will be dumped by owners. Those the factory will fix.
I was just joking about selling the Sig and Kahr, both are good little guns.

My wife has an LC9 and loves it, I can't get used to the trigger. I would really like to see a small single stack 9mm with a trigger that doesn't have such a long pull.

I've got an LC9 and put the Galloway trigger mod in mine and it makes a world of difference. However if S&W comes out with a single stack subcompact 9mm with an M&P trigger I'd be very tempted to add it to my 4.25" 9mm Pro and my 9c.

I also hoping for for something about LC9 sized. I need a gun that fits squarely between my LCP and SR9c. I've fired the LC9 and do like it a lot but I want to see what S&W has to offer before I buy something new.

I'm hoping for something along the size of the 3913. Nice and flat. S&W had alot of success with the 3913, and they currently have nothing to fill that space in the current line-up. It would compete well with the other single-stack 9's, like the Khar.

It does seem logical it will be a single-stack, 9 or 40. They are all the rage. They're following the same timeline they did with the BG380 and the Governor, come into the market after the other companies show their cards, and try to one-up them. My new PPS is at my FFL, so I didn't wait. See if S&W can one-up the Walther.

I shot a PPS .40 yesterday and won't be buying one now ("snappy" descriptions are all true, noticably more than any other .40 I've ever shot), hope S&W has something good to offer.

Many people I either known or heard have said something similar but the 9mm version is much better. The M&P40c, Glock 27, XDM40c are slightly bigger but shoot way better.

Yeah I had read the 9mm was better, but the PPS trigger guard mag release was an issue too. Muscle memory of 20 + years hitting the standard position mag release button was evident everytime I went to dump the empty mag. With a gun only holding 6-8 rounds, I'd want to know I could do a super quick mag change without any extra thought. The shape of the PPS mag bottom also didn't seem to lend itself to very easy spare mag carry or mag changes.
Back on thread topic....will 04/12 show us a scaled down M&Pc to a single stack, or a beefed up BG380 to 9mm or 40??. I'm hoping for the M&P resizing.

I like my LC9 and will keep it; as it fits so well into how I live since retiring from LE.
But a single stack 9 or 40 in an M&P configuration would cause my wallet to fly open.
