Default M&P 9 trigger

I know this topic has been tossed around a lot and here we go again. I got a new M&P9 range kit on friday and shot it today. The trigger is gritty while taking the slack out of it, i know it just has to be broken in. But the trigger is really stiff to actually fire the pistol after the slack is taken out of it. Will this get better with time? Does anyone elses M&P have a trigger like mine? I always thought trigger was going to be a little lighter in it. The gun only has 200 rounds through it.

They are pretty ******, out of the box. You could start by looking at Dan Burwell's site. He has instructions on how to clean it up. If you decide it still isn't good enough, you can drop in an APEX kit, or, send it to Dan.

Dan Burwell's magic hand put a 4.5 pound trigger in my M&P9 about 30 months ago. Well worth the money and he had it back to me in a week with night sights installed as well.

For those who want to do this at home the Apex kits have excellent results. I installed some of their springs as the trigger reset on my modified pistol was a bit too weak for me after a year with it. Added a pound to the trigger weight but the reset is much more positive.

My trigger scale is only marked in pounds, so "really stiff" doesn't translate.
After the trigger settles down, it should be around 6 1/2 #. I prefer the Pro triggers, which are around 4#.

I help the break in process by spraying a little CRC silicone in the action--NOT oil.

Since this gun is mostly going to be a target and plinking gun, is there a specific apex kit you would recommend?
