People can complain all they want about strikers and names but it seems like S&W is doing a great job as a leading manufacturer. I am a member of a Ruger, Glock, and general interest carry forum and S&W is getting a lot of positive press from this launch. I think S&W did a fantastic job on the launch and it will benefit everyone in the future for other new products coming to market. Guns are available and accessories are already under production. Sorry to find the positive in the recent S&W release

I agree. It was a great move to have guns already sitting in stores waiting for the official release. Accessories will be released for sale within a few months from the authorized "partners" and not all that long after from other companies.

Looks good, but the Kahr CW45 I picked up a few months ago is equally slim, only slightly longer and higher, holds 7 rounds, and has an excellent trigger. It's also very accurate, and the muzzle is cavernous.
Smith could well have a .45 Shield in the works, too...

M&P shield
Impact guns has the 9mm and the 40s&w models. I'll wait for the bugs to be worked out. I like the 40s&w at 19oz.

It does not appear to have the "infernal" lock, and with the similar trigger group as ( sigma + M&P ) the external safety, is low, and out of the way and really is there for Ma,Ca,etc.,to keep lawyers happy.

I don't like striker fired guns, but if they make that with a manual safety or a mag disconnect (even better if they had both features for me), I will own one.

You had better get ready to purchase a Shield, because it has the manual safety like a 19ll, sweep down, some have mag disconnect from what is in the booklet. It has everything a Glock does not have like a fully supported chamber, and the above items plus the flat magazine. Enjoy your new "Shield".

... and... It doesn't look like there are any bugs to be worked out.
