Product: Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD
Here's all the specifics. I'm glad they kept the 6.5 +/- trigger pull. I will own one of these.

The review sites a new feeling trigger. I wonder if there is some kind of parts interchange for making the rest of them feel that way. Or will there soon be a serious mod to the rest...?

Awesome!!! I will try to get one by the end of the year. Right now I'm having a hard enough time explaining to the wife why I need a full sized M&P40

Getting one as well... just need to find out who will be the first to sell it under msrp... Hot new gun, doubt there will do that with the first batch.

I think it looks pretty good, about time they release something to compete with the pocket pistols everyone is churning out these days.
I would like to see how the 40 handles.

Do these qualify for the M&P $50 rebate?? If so it's still a good price for a brand-spanking new gun.

What a nice little gun. Just might be what I'm looking for in a CCW.

Same here. I'm a big guy who wears loose pants and in my experience my 4" high Kahr is the 'highest' pocket gun I can carry without printing and snagging the draw. And if I'm going to carry on my belt I'm going to carry something a lot more substantial. I'm sure this'll be a great gun for others, though.

I can just get my PM9 in a back pocket holster if I wear cargo pants or painter's jeans. That extra .5 inch makes a BIG difference! That's why I spent the extra money for the PM9 - also installed XS Big Dot sights - love em.

I have a CM9 that is pocketable w/ a 4 inch height.
I would have loved to see this one with one less bullet and a 4 inch height.
One major thing that i dont like the kahr because double tap shooting is not really possible with the long trigger and reset
From the video, the shield must have a very short reset... Which is what i want

I'm heading down to Cabela's today so I'll let you know if they have one. If they do I might come home with it!

Just ordered one off Gunbroker. Expect to have it in a week or so!! Really looking forward to this. If the reviews are accurate, this is probably the ideal CC piece for me!

Printed the spec sheet and had it at my FFL within an hour. Had him on the phone with his S&W rep ordering however many he could get his hands on, so we'll see how long before mine shows up.

Well, it looks nice....but. I don't see enough difference between it and the M&P9c, which my wife already has and likes. I don't see enough difference in it and my Kahr CW9, which I already have and like. (Plus, neither one has a safety on them...which is how I prefer them.)
That being the case, I guess I'll wait a while and see how these work out. Hopefully they won't have any "new model" issues.

I'd be curious how it compares to my CM9. Love my M&Ps, but that little CM9 is accurate and very shootable. I bought one last year to carry vs. my 642 and it conceals much better. Only negative I have is the sharp point and edge on the front of the ejection port. You can cut your finger on it pretty easy with such a small gun. Forgot to add, the cheap plastic sights. I ordered a set of night sights directly from kahr. Did the front sight myself without any problem, haven't gotten to the rear sight yet.

I do! If you pocket carry -- which is the only way I carry -- the size difference between the Shield and the 9c is enormous. I want to stick it next to my BG380 to see how it compares, and the stuff it in my pocket to see how well it fits.
Like you, I might wait a little while to buy one to see if any issues develop.
Here's an interesting question: if S&W "fixed" the trigger for the Shield (reportedly, an all new trigger) then will the "fix" make it to the bigger brothers? If yes, there might be a lot of used M&P's for sale soon.

I got one on the way. My dealer hadn't heard of them until his rep was in today. His rep had some at his warehouse and I have one on the way.

Just had my dealer order one this afternoon, actually he ordered several. S&W replied he should have it by Feb 2013, great by then any bugs should be worked out. But then again since this is an older platform there hopefully won't be any teething problems. We'll see.

Gotta say this single stack m&p looks nice, but apparently its still not "pocket"
Size, and since I carry on the belt id rather have my 9c with alittle extra width and more firepower.....nice gun though....

Actaully, I'm glad the 40 isn't available yet, maybe I can have the money for the 40 when it's released.
Although, with the kick/snappyness of a 40, it might be quite a handful!

Now that I know what it is....and what it isn't I already have the form factor covered in 9mm. Now if it were .45 they would have a home run instead it is just ho hum.

One question: what does this gun do that the 3913 or the 908 didn't do? Your ideas cause I dont know that much about them. Its going to be at or just under $400 too.

My 3953 is thinner and weighs only 1 oz more for an all metal gun. I'll stick with my Gen3.

You should have plenty of time, we are still waiting on S&W pistols we ordered for the shop over a year ago.

I bought an LC9 about 6 months ago and I said "I wish S&W would put out a single stack mini 9". I'm happy with the LC9 and this new gun dopesn't really serve a purpose for me, but if I hadn't bought that LC9, I would probably get one. Still, the Lc9 is smaller and lighter, and that matters for pocket carry, which is how I usually carry my LC9. I'm sure this new gun will be a real winner.
