How much did you pay for your M&P Shield?
As I try and keep up with all the posts about the new Shield it seems that pricing is all over the place. I picked mine up Saturday morning at a LGS for $375. He said the $375 price tag was based on his standard mark up, but he may ask $390 for the next batch (since he sold out of the first batch in an hour). And for the record this shop is not really known for having really great pricing.
I am not trying to make anyone feel bad about how much they paid. I never even asked the price when I said I would take it. He could have charged me $475 and I still would have walked out the door with a Shield in a box. So high or low, how much did you pay for your M&P Shield?

Any gun shop selling these below MSRP is missing the boat IMO. They can sell these all day long at $449 with the amount of buzz out there. If you can get one for less, by all means grab one!

I think that is the way our goverment thinks as well! I will have to disagree with you on this one ponchsox! Just because someone will pay it doesn't make it ok. This situation isn't illegal because we don't HAVE to buy it. I am all for everybody making their buck, but if they charge more then their usual mark up just because, they are taking advantage of me. My LGS had it for MSRP as well. I asked the guy if they had any other guns for sale at MSRP & he said no. I fondled it and left!

This is a tough call. A gun shop gets only so many... and the demand is high! I think if it were my shop, I'd sell all but one, and let customers see and handle the last one. That way I could still give a great deal which my customers expect, and I could keep a sample for them to hold and hopefully order.
Gun shops don't make much on new guns. That extra $20 or $40 they overcharge for the 3 Shields they got from Smith is not going to make their day. So why overcharge?
I'd rather sell at my normal markup, make a few customers VERY happy they could get a Shield at a fab price, then those customers show their buddies and they tell them where they bought it at a great price and say "Yes he has one down there to look at and check out right now!".
That satisfaction and customer service will be worth a lot more than the extra $80 or so you could have gouged out of a few customers that really want a Shield....
I like the saying: "You can shear a sheep every year, but you can only slaughter it once."

My LGS sells everything at MSRP, so the Shield is no different. I just think this is funny, because I stopped at a Gander Mountain today, just to see if they had the Shield in yet, and the guy said, "No, but would you like to hold one?" They had sold two this morning within a half hour of opening, but are keeping one for just that purpose. Once I held it, I had to have it and by this afternoon, my LGS called and said mine was in, but as I said, it's MSRP, as they sell everything else.
(Oh, and buying on line isn't a good option for me, once shipping, tax, background check and transfer fees are figured in; it would come out a wash anyway....)

When I was finally able to find (stumble across) one locally I fully expected to pay MSRP. I think a got a pretty nice unexpected discount on mine, but can honestly say that had I been quoted the MSRP I still would've purchased it simply because I wanted it. I'm too old and impatient when it comes to things like this. I want it now!

I guess I totally don't understand this logic or conclusion. It is capitalism at its purest and most unmolested. It's an independent seller asking what the market will carry. Good for the guy, good for the market (inspires competition), less good for the consumer. I don't consider an M&P Shield an essential item that a businessperson should be either honor- or legally- bound to sell at some low price because I want it.
I want a Shield. I will highly likely buy a Shield. The price I pay is going to be heavily influenced by my impetuousness, supply, and availability. If guy X is selling it for MSRP and guy Y is selling it for MSRP-$50, I'll go with guy Y. Guy X will respond or wait until guy Y sells out.
I guess in summation: I don't like it when I have to pay more for stuff... but to equate selling a pistol (again, not an essential, unique, morally necessary thing) for what the market will bear with taking advantage of me strikes me as a bit hyperbolic at best and patently confused about a free market economy at worst.
I hope both you and I find Shields at deals that are good for us For me, I suspect I'll cave and buy at MSRP (or above with FFL and shipping) because, dammit, I want one now!

I mentioned this in another thread, but what is really bizarre is that this same gun shop had it priced at $399 on Gun Genie!
That made me mad, so when I ordered it I used a different gun shop.

I was considering one @$449 online = $485 shipped+FFL but then my bike fell over and now won't start so there goes that plan. Probably would have happily paid thar though as there aren't a lot of gun stores around here. Though I like to patronize the closest, it's about 1h away and I don't get to it as often as I'd like. Plus they don't have any. Next closest is 2h away

I'm waiting for the LE edition to be released. If the pricing structure holds true to the rest of the M&P line, the Shield LE should sell for $315 and include an extra magazine.

I know, the urge is strong!
After the comparison pics though, it isn't much smaller than a compact M&P, and a hair bigger than a BG380, so I'm waiting.
I hate paying more than I have to for anything.
What all these pictures have really done is make me want a 3913!!

What will the difference be in the LE edition other than price?
I havn't bought one,but the one I looked at and handled locally was $439 plus tax.

The only difference is price and an extra mag.
The .45's don't come with an extra mag for some reason though.
I'm hoping the shield does!

Wonder what the break even price is? Makes one wonder if these things are so cheap they are dangerous. Ive got both the 9 and just bought the 40, never been fired, now i see all these 40 problems I'm afraid to shoot it. Stupid me, I should have checked before instead of after. But Hey, that's the way I (blind trust in a well known company) operate, you'd think a 65 y/o, old fart would have learned by now. I keep forgetting we are living in the age of greed and desertion (Cash is King), guess S&W has fallen victim. Anyway after reading this young mans venture I've got my last S&W.

Still trying to find any available. I was going to wait for the LEO models, but I want to get one right away, once I find them.

Bought mine from that grab a gun link, it was 394 + 6 bucks shipping. FFL was 10 bucks (did two on that day and he charges 20 bucks a time, no matter the quantity)
