Need Help With M & P 9mm Gun Holster
New M & P Gun Owner here, looking for a IWB holster for my new M & P 9mm Gun. I am lost on what to buy. I have looked at all of them on the net, the gun shop here in town keeps telling me you will more then likely buy 6 or 7 till you find the right one! Someone here on the board must know of a good IWB holster, to start off with. I'm 175 lbs 5'9. Do I need to go a size bigger on my pants? I really don't want to if I have too.
thanks

Are you talking a full-size, 9c or Shield?
I've got a Comp-Tac MTAC that is comfortable for my 9c & can be had for the FS as well. I just bought an IWB for my Shield from someone on another forum that should be here Monday.

I have a couple of - Theisholsters.com | Home | Custom IWB Holsters - that I use. Good quality holster for the money and they carry well.

I picked up a Desantis Intruder IWB the other day from Midway USA, haven't worn it lots yet (been wearing it every day up to 8 hours) but seems to be nice for my 9fs. Pretty comfortable.

Take a look at the Crossbreed Supertuck. It is a hybrid leather and kydex holster that several freinds of mine use and swear by.

Check out the Comp Tac Minotaur. It is an outstanding holster which is very comfortable. I'm not on board with the 6 or 7 holster advice, this is my first IWB and I'm not looking any further.
Same size pants here with or without holster, but I do switch to a longer belt when I carry.

The CrossBreed Super Tuck IWB works very well for me. The M&P9 is maybe stretching the limits for a carry gun, but not too much. I can carry mine in the CrossBreed Super Tuck all day long with no discomfort. Good luck in your search, and kudos to your weapon selection wisdom!

I carry a M&P 9 Compact. I have a whole drawer full of holsters, both OWB & IWB. Some fit pretty good, others are uncomfortable. I bought a Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe about 6 months ago and now it is my daily carry holster. I wore it all day the first day I got it...hardly know it's there anymore. I am wearing the same pant size, although they are a bit snug when I first put them on. My new M&P Shield also fits in this holster.

Here is a tip for magazine carry. I (actually my wife did the sewing!) modified one of my single mag carriers so that it sits horizontal on my belt. I have seen a few commercial carriers that mount the same way. Sure makes it 1000% more comfortable to carry a spare magazine.
That brings up the subject of gun belts. The best holster with a lousy belt will give you nothing but grief. I wear a Wilderness Original Instructor Belt that works just great. It is 1 1/2 inch width with the 5 Stitch design. Well worth the money and mine is going on three years old.
Tactical Belts, Duty Belt, Military Belt, Instructor Belt

Buy the best quality holster that you can afford. There are many solutions for your M&P including the use of holsters made for other guns. My M&P's fit nicely into a Glock 21 holster....as an example.
You are never going to go wrong with the major makers like, Bianchi, DeSantis, Don Hume, Gould & Goodrich, Kramer, Milt Sparks, etc. offer holsters for the M&P.

Another vote for Comp-tac. Great holsters with lots of options along with good customer service and a 3 day build time. If you don't like the holster they have a 30 day no hassle return policy. For IWB I use their Infidel or 2:00 holsters. This week I just received 3 more of their holsters along with 2 mag carriers and one of their gun belts. Bill

Galco King Tuk. It's the same thing as the CrossBreed, but it costs less and you won't have to wait for it to be made.

I just bought my first gun (M&P 9c) and got Stow-N-Go from Galco. Wore it all day and was comfortable for me.
Product: RH Stow-N-Go M&P Compact Holster
Can't beat the price either. I'm sure there are better ones out there. But this is the only one I own, and I probably won't buy another one because I am so happy with this one.

I use a Safariland 18 IWB. It's adjustable for cant. I use it for my full side and compact. It's kydex with the outside covered in suede.
I also have a Theis for my 4003 and may get another for my M&P.

i would severely recommend not using any holster of this type.
sadly it is made of very flimsy weak leather, and after months of use it will become very ....floppy.
the issue here is not how well it wears, or holds the weapon but in holstering.
the leather can bend inwards and actually catch your trigger actuating it and causing you to have a accidental discharge. into your rear end, the back of your knee. and god forbid into your floor if you have neighbors below you.
its an okay holster if you dont carry +1 but if you keep one in the pipe........scrap it for your own safety

I posted earlier about the Desantis intruder for my 9fs. It is a pretty nice holster. I just got a Galco King Tuk at Cabelas and am having some issues drawing the gun even with the belt adjusted fairly loose. I'm not sure if it is any better than the Intruder.
I just found a link about the White Hat Max Tuck. Looks about the same as others but is more cutomizable when ordering without the 3 month wait of a Cross Breed. Will post after I check it out.

i had the full size 9mm and now have the compact. I purchased a Galco "king tuk" hybrid holster, and i guess i hit the jackpot on the first try. I have worn it every day since, in jeans, shorts, slacks. without the gun in it, i forget its back there.
The gun tucks well, and hides well. you can feel the grip pressed against your back pretty hard when standing upright, so you know its tucked in good.
If you wear your jeans loose, you may not have to go up a size. but it will take an inch or 2 more room in the waistband.

I recommend you look at White Hat Holsters. They are very customisable since every thing is screwed together with Chicago Screws.
Is customisable a word? Did I spell it correctly?

The most comfortable one I have ever seen is by Brigade leather. But be prepared to wait a while for it to arrive. It tends to be that way with all quality leather holsters.
Get yourself a GOOD quality gun belt.
