If it's anything like the P238, it'll be nice.

P938 Blackwood
specs say it's close to the same size. That's where the similarities stop really. It's SA only, all metal, and about it's MSRP is about $400 dollars more.

Default P938-Shield

I was really looking to get a P938 as I also have a P238 and love it except that it's .380 I had a Kimber Solo that I loved but it destroyed itself internally. Kimber promptly repaired it, (new slide, barrel and return spring) but with only a one year warranty time for it to go.
The P938 seemed a natural but who knows when it will be out? I was carrying a Kimber Ultra Raptor, 2 pounds +, and was getting a bit tired of it. Anyway, I saw a YouTube video and the Shield and the P238 w/7 round mags were exactly the same height, the P938 will be the same length thereabouts, so why wait? The shield is several ounces heavier, but I can have it now, no brainer for me, I got it and love it!
So, I have no idea when Sig will have them, Shield now $400, Sig whenever $800, my choice Shield, but to each his own...

The 938 is just now coming onto the market slowly. I wanted a pocket gun to replace my S&W 642 because my wife took that as her night stand gun. I purchased a Sig 238. I personally did not feel comfortable carrying the mini 1911 cocked and locked in my pocket. I prefer a DAO gun for pocket carry. I personally chose the Sig 290. I love that little gun. I am getting ready to send it back to sig to have them replace the trigger with the new trigger system. I will not purchase a 938 but I am looking forward to possibly purchasing a shield.

I cannot for the life of me see a niche for a cocked and locked single action semi auto as a pocket gun. But that's just me.

It's appealing for someone who has a 1911 as an IWB carry gun since it has the same manual of arms. I have an Ultra Carry for Jacket weather, P238 for pocket and am looking forward to a P938 as a summer piece. The one exception might be the Shield since it incorporates a thumb safety and I honestly want to see what everyone on all the gun forums are raving about.

The 938 is slightly smaller (but slightly wider) and lighter than the Shield, so might be a better choice for pocket carry. However, I think the price may be too high in a very competitive space. To me, the real competition for the 938 seems to be the Kimber Solo, which has its share of detractors and problems.

I have a p238 and I enjoy carrying it depending on what I'm wearing. I'd like to get my hands on a shield but they seem to be gone as soon as they come in around here.

I think that I will be the proud owner of the 938 and sell the 238 when they are more readily available.

It's got a heavier trigger than the shield... my girl's is between 7 and 9, I forget now (I measured when we got it)

might as well take the safety off. lol

that being said, we are thinking about upgrading her from the P238 to the shield. but she doesn't wanna let go of her P238...

so I figured I let her keep the P238 and get a shield. she can decide which she prefers.

I ain't balling enough to get her a P938 yet... lol

My trigger pull on the p238 was much higher before I sent it back to sig. It was having some ejection issues, and I upgraded to the ambi safety while it was there.

When it came back from sig it was significantly lighter. I'm definitely not complaining. I carry it in a remora IWB when I'm only wearing a tshirt that won't conceal other pistols as well.

If you practice removing the safety as you draw its not an issue. I love my p238.

I got to play with the p938 at the gun show yesterday. The difference between the p238 and p938 is like the shield with the MP9c. In paper its very miniscule, but in actuality its night and day. I have small hands, and the P238 seemed like it was made just for me. The 938 felt really bulky. Maybe thats good news for people who find the 238 too small, but not for me.
