Default M&P 9 Pro, CORE & Performance Ceneter comparison

I am shopping for a 9 mm pistol for informal shooting at the range and low level competition. M&Ps with 5" barrels are top candidates.

As far as I can tell from S&W's web site:
  • M&P 9 Pro (178010) is somewhat improved over the basic M&P 9. It has a fiber optic front sight.
  • M&P 9L Pro C.O.R.E. (178058) is an M&P 9 Pro with the cutout for optical sights and raised iron sights.
  • M&P 9 Performance Center Ported (10098) is an M&P 9L Pro C.O.R.E. with ports and different trigger parts.

Questions:
  • Unless you intend to install an optical sight (I don't), does the 9L Pro C.O.R.E. offer any advantages over the 9 Pro?
  • Do the ports in the Performance Center model significantly reduce muzzle flip?
  • Is the trigger in the Performance Center model better than the others? (I don't intend to install Apex parts.)

Thanks in advance for comments.

I have the Pro CORE Ported. The ports do help control muzzle rise. The trigger is nice and smooth. I've never tried an Apex trigger. I shoot local steel and 3-gun matches with mine too. The last match I shot two guys wanted to try it. One had a Glock and the other a M&P 9mm. I had to help them pick their jaws off the floor afterwards. They loved it. It also comes with supressor height sights if you ever decide to go that route.

I have a FS9 with apex FSS kit, and it shoots/feels/performs way better than my 9 PRO. Never tried the PC but I've heard it is better than the others in the stock form. The apex FSS kit is well worth it imo, just take a look at it, not my video though.

My 9mm Pro Series is stock, I've never had to do anything to the trigger. It breaks between 4.5-5 lbs. just like glass. It has had a few rounds through it though.

The fiber optic front sight on mine is green and the rear sight is blacked out for a very nice picture. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them though, just depends on the amount of money you want to invest. Hope this helps!

What model comes with the night sights? I thought it was the Pro but sounds like I was wrong.
