Best inexpensive holster for M&P22 for the range
Hello,
I'm looking for something really inexpensive in a holster that should be readily available in most gun shops. I 'm right handed and would like something I can put the gun in when I'm walking down to change targets and I'm alone at the range. I don't like the idea of leaving my gun ammo mags 50yards away from me 20 feet from the road. I like to leave my gun in the holster when not in use also.. I have gun's over 30 years and I know some have issues with leaving a gun in the holster when not in use but I never had a moisture or rust issue.. I clean gun after each and every use or ever 3 months when not used. I Clean and oil gun down and every so often oil the inside of the holster well be it nylon or leather.. I never touch then gun after it is oil wiped and holstered.. I find the M&P22 to big for my Colt .45 Officers Model Mark IV ser. 80 stainless steal using a Uncle Mikes #15..What # Uncle mikes holster would yield the best fit for the M&P22? Any hunter leather holsters made to fit the M&P22? I know they were cheap well made and are a nice leather holster.. One day I would love to get a good Leather CC leather holster for one of my Colt Officers models for CC. But for right now Cheap and good fit high ride hip inside or outside the pans would be fine for the M&P22.. Again good fit and cheap is key here.. I don;t want something that will operate the slide unintentionally when holstering my m&P22.. Thanks for some ideas makes and models that will work well for the range use and at the bed side table for the wife.. No kids here. George

I use this for carry also. Blackhawk SERPA sportster. It also fits my other M&P handguns. Wal-mart carrys the blackhawk low-end version, without the finger paddle lock release. I think I saw them for under $20.

I shoot the M&P22 in steel plate matches. Great little gun...love it. I made a holster for mine out of leather and kydex. Got about $3.00 in the holster.

i know you said cheap but just an FYI. i use a Bladetech DOH holster for USPSA and 3 gun comps. My M&P 9, M&P 45 and M&P 22 all fit just fine in it. Plus i got the 22 as a cheap trainer so i want it to ride in the same place on my belt as my M&P 9

There's a nylon BB pistol holster in the airgun section at Walmart that should do it. Haven't used it yet or my M&P22, but I've ued it for pretty much every full sized auto I've ever owned and it works.

I did see that in WalMart Thanks.. That would do if it fits. I thought it would have fit in a nylon holster that my .45 is in but no way.. maybe someone else can confirm this WalMart holster for fit on the M&P22. Thank for the input! george

jajo,
Where i shoot I know the people in charge but we have a lot of members and only 1/10th of them ever show up at meetings. Passes are sold to the people that want them.. So I don't know most of the members.. Plus when at the range it's a honor system when at the range No officers are there most of the time.. Some times I'm the only one there.. One never knows what some jerks could do when passing by in a car.. Lost of cars full of kids just jamb on there breaks and lean on the horn when going by for no reason. I just have to wonder.. I just feel better if the guns on my, I think this would take away some of the temptation for the dumb ones. George

Thanks i know that would cost more then what I was thinking of.. Maybe I can save up a bit decide what would be my best CCW and get a hand made holster for that gun. For the M&P22 I'm thinking like spending $15 or $20 bucks.. I know I can get a new paddle type holster for $16.99 in a catalog I have and it's made for the M&P 9mm and .40. I think that would fit.. But thanks for the info, a good hand made holster is on my list's of really wants.. I will make contact with Lobo Gun Leather "Ray" when the time is right. George

The nylon Blackhawk at Walmart is around $16.00. Just picked one up that has an an extra magazine pouch on the leading edge last week. Both my full size MP 40 and the MP compact both fit but the full size sticks out the bottom slightly. They had larger holster options.

Gauger, Being WalMart is so good about returns and exchanges are you going to keep the one you have or try a larger one? If your going to try another one I may wait and see how you like that.. Thanks for the info! George
