Default Sorry- another .40 4.25" Pro series vs standard question

I can get a bare bones M&P 40 for $399
I can get a Pro for $560

I do want the good trigger on the pro- or I'm buying the $85 Apex kit. Also want the night sights, which as near as I can tell, are over $100 for the Trijicons. So a standard would be 400+ 185- so 585. Or 560 for the pro.

So I'm trying to figure out what to do. With the pro, no worries about aftermarket parts. I also like the "pro" on the slide. But maybe the apex trigger kit is better than the pros? And then maybe the aftermarket night sights are better than the pros?

Thoughts?

Depends on your attitude towards "stock vs. aftermatket". If you are the type of gouy who will be content with an incremental trigger improvement without taking the next step up to Apex-level performance, then get the Pro and stick with it. But if you are like many, if not most of the people who are interested enough in getting the most from their pistol to read and post on handgun forums, then go ahead, get the basic model, add the sights you want (check out Truglo, too), and install the DCAEK, the RAM, and possibly the AEK (or the coming poly model) trigger from Apex and get a great shooting combination.

Default Pro or no

If it's a carry gun, go Pro and I wouldn't mess with it. If competition, go base and trick it out all you want.

If you think you'll go the Apex route then get the standard model. Factory M&P night sights can be found as take-offs for around $60 if you have the time to search around a bit. I've bought and installed two pairs that were under a year old when I bought them this way. If you think you'll use this as a carry piece or for HD then I'd get the factory sights for the stepped profile to make single-handed racking easier. If you'll only use it for target shooting then aftermarket would be good as well.

I kept the stock trigger on my 4.25" Pro and find it to be more that adequate for my use.

It'll be a range/carry/hd gun. I have a glock 35 for IDPA. Retiring the glock 27 for a shield 40 too. Looks like the pro is the ticket.

At Buds the Pro series costs $1 more than the standard M&P with night sights. $455 for night sights, $456 for Pro with night sights:
S&W M&P40 40S&W 4 1/4" Pro Series Night Sights for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $456.00

I don't know if the Pro comes with three magazines but the standard model does for sure.

I called them, the LE Pro's have been on order since the beginning of the year- so 6 months so far and no word of them ever coming into stock. I think I just might spend the $625 for the one in stock at the local gun shop.

Default TRY THIS

I got the TFO's for my 40 online for $80 shipped and love them. Bright during the day and at night the tritium kicks in too.
I REALLY WANT AN APEX NEXT.

so now.

$399 + 89 + 85 = $573...

Not much but better but i think its a better setup. the PRO on the slide is sweet though!
