Default 9mm Shield at the range

Finally got the Shield after 6 wks. on waiting list at LGS. Paid MSRP but that was OK with me.

First time at the range I used a combination of some MFS 115gr ammo and my own 115 gr reloads with BE and Berrys plated bullets. Ran about a full box between both through the gun and had to quit as it was getting dark. Both functioned well but the Shield actually liked my reloads better than the European ammo My best accuracy was with the extended mag- I will need to work on getting comfortable with the flush mag.

I noticed I have to aim with the sight picture covering the target almost completely to get the most accuracy and I tend to have POI slightly low and to the left of POA. But it was one ragged hole even at that! I think as I get used to the sight picture and with more practice that will straighten out. I plan to develop some reloads specifically for this gun and will tweak the load a bit next time out.

Overall very pleased, easy to shoot, minimal recoil, easy to get back on target. Will be my main carry gun.

Joe

Congrats on your new Shield.
Snap-Cap/Dry Fire practice will get rid of the Low & Left. It's very common with many Compacts & Subcompacts. Do a 'Google Image' search for shooting wheel for diagnosing what you're doing.

Many times, shifting how your trigger finger sits on the trigger needs a slight modification. For me, I need the trigger to use the knuckle crease, rather than the pad of my finger.

Tell you, have lot of M&P, but the Shield is the sweetest to shoot.
