Default Apex striker spring

Been thinking about installing the Apex AEK trigger and their Competition spring kit. Not sure though if I want to install the striker spring. I'm guessing that it is a lightened spring and I'm concerned about light strikes. This is mostly a range gun but I prefer that all of my guns should fire when the trigger is pulled. any difficulty with it in any members installs?

Default Apex Stricker

I recently put the APEX compition kit in my M&P 9m. For a range gun I liked the factory trigger but have begun shooting IDPA and wanted better feel and reset. I like the results but have began having failure to fires. Dented primers but round did not go off. I reload using CCI primers. 1000's of round with few issues until I did the trigger kit. I am considering going back to the factory stricker spring. Any thoughts?

On my .45, I had light strikes with the competition kit. Went to the duty kit rather than all the way back to factory and got back to 100% with a 5.25 pound trigger..just have to make sure my primers are seated fully in reloads.

Went back to factory stricker spring and things have improved. Did not fully fix the problem so I am thinking it may be in the primers. Factory Federal Premium rounds are 100 percent but reloads running about 99 percent. I will shoot a few more boxes of reloads this weekend to see if I see any further improvement.

I've heard CCI primers are the hardest primers, I use winchester primers with the competition Apex trigger kit with the lightest springs installed, it measures just under 3# and I've had 0 FTF. I just bought 1000 CCIs just to try and see how they work. Try some different primers and see if that helps you.

The trigger spring has no effect on the striker hitting the primer, the striker spring certainly does. I have over 25,000 rounds through my 9L in the last 6 months with the original striker spring. I mainly use CCI 500 primers but with the fluctuating supply of primers I've used Winchester, Remington, and S&B. I have had no problems with any of them.
