Shoulder Holster for the M&P Shield 9 mm
Does anyone have any info for a Shoulder Holster for the M&P Shield 9mm. I looked on the S&W site and they don't offer anything. I've got the Blackhawk IWB and Fobus Paddle OWB and I had to get a level 2 Disantis OWB for every day cary for work, but thought a shoulder holster would be handy as well. Any info would be a help. I really enjoy this weapon. The more I carry it and shoot it at the range the more I like it. Thanks!

Not a conventional shoulder holster per se, but I have tried carrying my Shield in Kramer Confidant holster shirt with good results. The flat profile and relatively light weight make it a good deep concealment combination.

picked up a shoulder holster years ago i think for $5. they`re now $70. saw a holster advertised for a chest rig, a $169. studied the chest rig online. took off the leather straps, now using nylon straps. until i can get to tandy, tommorrow, and purchase leather straps, and mount them the same way as the nylon straps. it carries well. middle of the chest. not good for now, but for winter, or driving the car. it sits good. and comfortable. but what i`m saying is that almost any pistol, loops, nylon or leather straps mounted, and some sewing time. you can make one for your self. got a plastic pellet pistol w/ mag. for the grandson. had a camo turkey pouch, 3 1/2 hrs. hand sewing time, a holster for HIS pistol. you thought i give him a x-box. at 6 he walks around the house, shows me how he can draw his pistol, and keep his finger down the slide. i`m tring to find a shoemaker in the area to finish the chest rig when i get everything together.

IIRC from the original Shield Holster threads, most PPS holsters fit the Shield. This should hold true for Shoulder Holsters as well.
Google Search PPS Shoulder holster and you should get a good list to start from.

why not full size ?
If a person is going to carry using a shoulder holster why wouldn't you carry a full size firearm?

^^^ Winner, winner, chicken dinner...
One second thought, I need to amend this comment...
If you are using a shoulder rig that was designed for a bigger pistol, like the Galco Miami Classic or DeSantis mentioned above, you may as well be carrying a bigger gun. The thought being, the supporting harness is far less discrete than one that could be designed for a lighter and smaller gun.
I have a Ken Null City Slicker shoulder rig for a J-frame. My 940 weights within an ounce (loaded) as my Shield with a 7-round mag (and one in the chamber) and are surprisingly close in overlaid size. It is an upside down rig with a pull thru release, with a harness that is nearly invisible. I could never imagine using my Galco MC rig with a J-frame holster attached to the harness instead.
The larger point being: that it would make greater sense to seek out a purpose built rig that took advantage of the svelte proportions of the Shield, rather than using something that was retrofitted for the application and is basically overbuilt for the task.

I know Alessi has both the mold, and makes holsters for the Shield (they have made me three great holsters for my Shield, with another one or two coming). They also have the mold for Shield magazines, which are so unique with the semi-double stack design, that they really don't fit molded mag pouches for either single or double stack mags.

I think some of us here would enjoy seeing pics of your Alessi made Shield holsters. Probably best to do so in a new thread. Agree on the mag pouches too. I'm having a custom one made for this same reason.

How do you order a holster for a Shield from Alessi? It's not listed in their gun availability list...although I have found that a .45 single-stack mag carrier works for my Shield .40 mag with no problems...
