Some Comparisons M&P9 vs M&P9C
Three months ago I purchased and M&P9C (LE), night sights, mag safety and thumb safety. I have fired about 300 rounds through it and it is great. The trigger was very smooth and easy. The weapon was very accurate in the 25 foot range.
Yesterday I purchase a full sized M&P9 and fired 100 rounds through it today. I had no malfunctions. BUT My thoughts:
1. The trigger is very gritty in its takeup. I isolated that to the striker blocker spring loaded mechanism in the slide (I JUST LEARNED IT IS CALLED THE STRIKER SAFETY--in the Sigma it was a BLOCKER). It seems to make noise when compressed and when I had the weapon apart, it seemed to stick sometime in a half way down position. Any thoughts on this----I have no safeties on the weapon and it could be dangerous if the striker blocker doesn't work right.
2. The length of trigger takeup until it starts stacking seems much longer than the 9C---at first I had a hard time with it and even did some low rounds in anticipation of actual firing.
3. I have no mag safety. After I field strip the weapon and reassemble it--no matter how many times I rack the slide---the weapon does not go into battery and pulling the trigger does nothing. Then----I insert and empty mag into the weapon--rack the slide---remove the mag and the trigger works---it would fire if a round were in the chamber-----then without a magazine I can continue to rack the slide and it will work perfectly every time. Question-----why won't it work properly after reassembly----doesn't seem to make sense unless there is something mechanically wrong----why do I have to first insert a magazine then remove it before it works properly.
Other than that--great weapon--very accurate----its heft makes recoil non-existent
