Shield night sights?
I've always liked Meprolights. Are they out yet for the Shield? Where can I find them?
What's your favorite night sights for the Shield?

So, are these the identical part that also fits the M&P's? I thought the shield used a different set.
I've got TFO's on two of my shields and love them.

I also have TFOs on my Shield and they are GREAT! Seriously, I'm going to replace the factory night sights on my Sig and request authorization to do the same on my duty Glock. Best night sights I have ever used.

I have the XS Express rear and BigDot front on the Shield. It took me about 300 rounds to "zero in" on them, but they do what they're intended to do.. I'll be keeping them.. Cheers.. Ron

I have the TFO's on my Glock 19 & like them a lot. Might on the Shield when the cash flow is better.

Those look really sweet on the Shield, however, I'm concerned they may be a little fragile for a carry gun. These are more vulnerable to break. Mabe I'm wrong.
Does anyone know if Mepro sights are available for the Shield yet? They've always been good performers and tough riding on top of my "G" guns as well as my M&P40c.

Actually, the more I look at them, the more they look pretty well encapsulated and protected. Thanks for posting those great pics. I know how good their sights are as they're riding on top of my go to HD G21SF.

I have Big Dots on my Shield and love them. Didn't know they came out with TFOs for the Shield. Good to know.

I have Trijicon HD's on my Shield and am very satisfied with them. No issues with snagging and they give my old eyes an excellent sight picture.

Photos?
Martimus, can you post a photo or two of the HD's on your Shield? I definitely want tritium sights on my Shield 40 but want some confirmation that what I buy will work perfectly. Also, if you have the part number from Trijicon that would really help. I have Trijicon's on my G23 gen4 and love them - especially compared to the stock white 3 dot. (I also have"old eyes" and need every bit of help I can get!).
Thanks!

Ordered my TFOs today and have the slide ready to ship on Monday to XD-HS2000. Also throwing my Apex Tac USB in the box to complete the DCAEK parts install. Frau Ops says you guys are a BAD influence...

First I want to say that I just got my Shield a week ago, after waiting months for the first batch to hit Costa Rica and 250 flawless rounds later, I couldn't be any happier with the way this gun performed. I am a new shooter, with tired eyes and had 10" groupings at 60ft. I like the way the gun fits my hand and I found the recoil to be less than I had anticipated. A friend just brought down my new holster for it Saturday and I love the combination of the Shield and my Latour holster. I also found out that while I was waiting for my holster to arrive, that I could pocket carry the Shield in an Uncle Mike's. This is not how I want to carry it, but was glad to see that I could. I am also grateful for this forum, that has given me a wealth of information over the last 6 months since I found it.
I didn't see a set specifically listed for the Shield on the Truglo website. My LGS didn't have a set for the M&P in stock, but said he has installed them on a few Shields. He told me they are a bit wider than the dovetail on the Shield and if you look close you can see it in the pictures above. He doesn't like the fact that the sight protrudes out of the dove tail a small amount on each side. I would prefer that it didn't, but for the gain that the sights give you, I think it's a small trade off. I ordered a set on line for $85 and if it really bothers me I will file each side of the sight to get a better fit. Strange that with all of the Shields hitting the streets, that Truglo hasn't reduced the width for a better fit on the Shield.

Yeah, I need to move them over with a sight pusher. To the guy talking about the not perfect width of the dovetail, dude you won't even notice it. Unless you're OCD. :P

+1 on the tfo's. I had a pair for a m&p compact milled to fit perfectly. Also get the apex trigger kit. It drops the trigger to 4.25 lbs

I had my gunsmith install Truglo TFO's (the standard M+P model) on my Shield, and really appreciate them. They are more effective in lining up the sights on the target both day and night for these 67-year old eyes. Previously I put night sights on all my CCW pistols (factory units on both SIG and Kahr pistols), and these worked well at night, but the TFO's are also more effective during the day for me than the standard tritium sights. I also have CT lasers on all my CCW weapons, and the combination of the Truglo TFO's and CT laser is the best combination of day/nights sights I've yet found.

Yes you can install the sights yourself with just a hammer and a punch...
It is much easier to use a sight tool, but those run $100 or so... If you think you will be doing sights on many guns it's good to buy one (I did), if you aren't just use the punch...
I have heard that the rear sight is in there real strong, a gunsmith that I know broke his sight tool trying to change a rear sight...

I just ordered a crimson trace laser and a set of XS Big Dot sights for my new Shield...
I just ordered the APEX trigger kit also as I have the MA gun with the 10.5 lb trigger...
I just put 3 to 4 hundred rounds through it Saturday without one hick-up, it shot great, the MA trigger isn't that bad, but it's nowhere near what my other gunsmith tuned M&P's are...
I ordered a APEX kit for the Shield and for my new M&P 45 because I want to install them myself and try them out to see how the APEX trigger works out.

The CT is still working Great, no problems what so ever with it, holds zero perfect...
I love the XS Big Dot also, makes it so easy to shoot with those on there...
CT is great, they just replaced a set of laser grips for one of my 1911's, no questions asked with a brand new set...
If you haven't bought the CT yet, buy it for yourself for X-Mas... :-)

I put the TFO's on my Glock 23 and have several hundred rounds through it since with zero issues to report. The sights are excellent and durable. Will definitely be putting them on my Shield 40.
