Well, got it done. I've got to say, I'm very happy with the results. The sight is a Primary Arms Micro Green Dot Reflex Sight. It is rated pretty good and is not very expensive. The mount is a Mako universal bridge mount from Amazon. Total cost of the project- $60 Mako mount + $89 plus sh for the sight. Total with taxes and shipping about $160.

I sighted the reflex sight to my iron sights which were zeroed in pretty good. The green dot is very easy to see and target acquisition is very easy with my bifocal glasses, its like night and day better. No more trying to find the sweet spot of my glasses. Just look for the dot and your there. Being a gamer looking for the dot came easy. At first the dot looked distorted, but it was because I was still trying to look for the sweet spot of my glasses, once I got used to looking thru my glasses normally, the dot was no longer distorted. I had read about this happening and knew what was wrong. Some of you may like it and some may not, but for the price, for me, this is a way better solution than all the regular sight options, which aren't many for this gun.
This is the Mako universal mount for red dot scopes or open reflex sights or for whatever your favorite sight is. Alot of you already have red dot sights and with this you can try them out on your M&P22. I have posted pictures so that you can see the fit and clearance. The clearance on the sides is just right no interference with the slide. From the top of the slide to the top if the picatinny rail is 1/2 in. Pretty low compared to other bridge mounts. Does not interfere with the brass ejection as you can see in the pic with the slide open, plenty of room for the brass to eject. You can still use your iron sights as you can see in the picture. It is made of aluminum and feels solid mounted on the rail. Here are the pics of the mount and of the sight with the dot showing to give you an ideal of what it looks like.

I used a similar mount on a M41 and never could get used to the sight being that far above the gun. I just didn't like it and sold the mount.

Do you have any pictures of the setup that you had on your M41. What sights were you running on the mount. I wish that I could slide mount the sight to get it lower, but after researching I don't think it would work with this caliber M&P. This seems to be the best option for now. What ended up working for you with the M41. Thanks.

I was going to use the same mount with my Fastfire 2 but, I didn't like the idea of the that high so, I bought a mount from Speed shooters part #1996 and it worked ok..
I ended up getting the new mount from Burris (on backorder for 3 months) for the M&P part #410336 . It needed no gunsmithing...
