My shield hideaway
I keep my shield close at hand when I am in the living room in the evenings watching TV.
I will also explain that we have no kids at home anymore and this VCR case was from when they were at home 15 years ago. No grandkids either. I do take it back to the bedroom at night after I am finished watching TV and ready for bed.

I have mine on from the time I get home from work until I go to bed. Then it's underneath my pillow just in case. I can't carry at work but if I could, then I would.

Why don't you carry it on your person until bed?

Lol.
I dont carry at home. I dont feel the need. I live in the land of suburbia where soccer moms in Bentleys and Porsches rome the streets. But more then that, i carry all day i want to be comfortable at home

I like that. Hiding in plain sight. Amazing the places you can stash different weapons.

After carring all day it is nice to get the gun off even if it is not uncomfortable to carry and still have it within easy reach. I had almost thought about putting a black cover over it so it looked like a bible as I doubt any bad guy would ever touch that even if I did leave it out.

My neighbor across the street had his car broke into back in the summer, they stole his gun and his bible..(he said he was used to parking in the garage and always left that particular gun in his car, this night he left his car in the driveway because someone else (daughter/son) had parked in the garage)

100% of home invasions occur at home. I'm never without it on my person. I'd rather be able to respond immediately should the need arise (and I doubt it ever will) than to be trying to get to it and not being able to (for example being in the kitchen and gun in the living room). But each has to make their own choice and I wouldn't use the fact that your neighborhood is such a good neighborhood because crime happens there too. In fact, there is some good merchandise to be had for criminals there and they can normally rest assured that the homeowner wouldn't be carrying. It's happened in some affluent neighborhoods around here.

There's just something wrong with someone stealing a Bible! Maybe they've never read "Thou shalt not steal."
I've seen various hideout "books" (false books designed to hold a gun) but this is the first video tape case I've seen used. We got rid of all our VHS tapes, and only have DVDs now. The Shield is slim, but I don't see it fitting in a DVD case!

Since an attempted home invasion last year, I'm never
more than an arm's reach from one of my guns. Sometimes
it seems a little silly, but I figure it's better to be safe than
sorry.

This is true and a few years ago our development did have a few break ins......during the day, when no one was home. Perp was never caught. I do get what youre saying but i dont see the danger in my area. And it COULD happen but so could a lot of other things. Im more worried when im out

All it takes is one time. And I'm sure the guy in Connecticut who had to watch his wife and daughters be tortured and killed (and who lived in a very nice neighborhood) might have wished he had one on himself at the time. Like I said, it is your choice but putting on a seatbelt after the car crashes or putting a bicycle helmet on your head after you've fallen off the bike and hit your head doesn't do much good. I, personally, the same applies to carrying.

I had one years back. It's a nasty wake up call. I agree with you. Better to be safe than sorry.
