Default New M&P 9FS trigger grittiness feel

What causes that trigger grit feel? Any suggestions on how to smooth it out without replacing internal parts? Any tips into accomplishing this task would be appreciated.

S&W just does not polish up the internal parts like they should. To clean it up without replacing anything, shoot the heck out of it. Dry fire a bunch as well. If you feel like taking it apart you can polish all the internals taking out a bunch of the roughness.

Seems like good advice right here. It is what it is

I took my FS9 to the range yesterday for the first time and put 150 rounds down range. Had 3 failure to lock back after an empty mag and 1 stovepipe. After that the gun performed flawlessly the remaining 120 rounds or so

Despite Smith saying no break in needed for the M&P I think the more you fire it the better and smoother things will become

The trigger on my 686 was the same way. It smoothed out nicely and is perfect right now

I think that's how they help keep the prices down ("fine tuning parts"). Not a bad thing. I enjoy taking them apart and fine tuning them myself and the more you shoot the better they do get. I've never added a trigger kit and saved enough to buy a couple more in the long run.

I thought by installing an Apex blocker, the gritty feeling would go away. It did not as there was a burr in the blocker bore. This video shows how to check if it is caused by the blocker, and how to fix it. This also works for the stock blocker.
