Default Shield .40 range report

Comfort: A-
Feels great in the hand, but no optional blackstrap for larger or smaller hands.

Trigger:A
Love it, easy pull. Not too stiff or too heavy

Accuracy:B
Can't consistently keyhole from 30 feet the way I do with my XDS

Reliable: A+
150 rounds of Remington & Not a single error, (no magdrop or anything)

Carry: B+
IWB, Not visible at all, even on my skinny self. Felt like I wasn't carrying most times except when I sit, there is something at the bottom of the mag/grip that is digging/pinching my side

Overall great CC weapon.

I have a Hogue Handal Jr. on my 9mm Shield. It increases the grip just enough for my hands and has a finger groove for better grip.

That grip looks looks good on there also. I may need to try one.

Yeah, it works and feels great! The grip also has a little bit of thickness to it to add to the entire grip of the gun. I did have to trim the bottom of the grip a tiny bit because my middle finger is a bit thick so my middle finger would fit into the groove below the trigger. Although the picture doesn't show the trimmed grip because I took a picture of the grip before I trimmed it.

I got one ordered last night. It was $9.14 shipped. Cheap enough for me.

Idk if it would work with a CT laser guard. My guess would be no because the pressure switch would be covered up by the grip. Also, since the grip would be covering the CT Laserguard, I would think that there would be constant pressure onto the On/Off switch. Plus, having the grip alone on the Shield is really snug fit.

Probably a bit more pleasant to shoot than the XDS though. I have an XDS and find the recoil pretty stout. Granted it is a .45 in a tiny pkg

I have a Talon grip on my Shield and LC9. The grip fits on like a second skin and gives double the grip as stock. I use their rubber grip as the sandpaper grip will wear your skin and clothes out. It is far superior to the stock Shield grip, which felt somewhat slick. Add the hot, humid summertime weather here in FL, and it was slippery. Now not at all slick with the Talon rubber grip. I use the sandpaper grips on my range only guns. They will never slip but the surface is very rough.

I have both and actually like the XDS recoil a bit better (not as flippy), find it easier to get back on target and crazy accurate. The Shield is still a great gun, but it will be going to my wife - I'll still get some range time with it. :-) I highly recommend the Talon rubber grip for the Shield.

Yeah, and since Spingfield is coming out with the 9mm XDS, the recoil would be even better. I'll have to checkout the recoil on it. I have 2 Springfields, the XD 9mm and the XD .45acp. If they didn't have the external safety on the grip, It would be even better IMO.
