Default New to me FDE 2.0

Yesterday my wife and I did our yearly Black Friday shopping which consists of heading to our local dealers and seeing if anything is on sale. We don’t get up early, we don’t go with the flow, we go look at guns. Didn’t take long as the first dealer we went to had 15% off used guns and they had the 2.0 that I have been wanting but couldn’t ever find. I live in a communist state that limits magazine capacity’s to 10 rounds. The gun I wanted was the full size FDE 2.0 which I don’t see listed even on Smith and Wesson sight with 10 round mags. Well there one was. When I asked to look at it it had 17 round mags which are illegal for sale in the communist republic of CT. They said oops can’t sell you those but it’ll come with 2 new 10 round mags. Sticker price 419, minus 15%, it was 389 out the door. Came with the case and the 4 backstraps. May not of been the best deal but I am happy with it. Gun is in really good shape and looks to have very little use.

Also picked up a used Ruger 10/22 as well. It was another good Black Friday.

Any words of wisdom always appreciated.

Sounds like you did pretty good. I haven’t seen many used 2.0’s. Let us know how it shoots at the range. I had to put a slightly lower front sight on my M&P Pro 5” to get it to my liking.

Congratulations. That is a great score. When I got me for $428 + $15 transfer fee, I thought I did well. You got a great deal.

In some cases, used simply means you get a discount for letting someone else use his ammo to help you break it in. Sounds like you did very well. The 5” 2.0 is probably going to shoot real well. If not, S&W is pretty close for a warranty fix.

Suggestions:
Buy more mags
Buy an Uplula loader if you don’t already have one
Before you go to the range:
Clean it
Disassemble and clean the mags (even tho new)
Lube it
Dry fire at targets at home, a lot
Run the slide a lot

Use good ammo to test it out.
Shoot it from a rest at 10 yards to test for accuracy.
Wait to sand the high points off the checkering until you are sure you want to do so. You can’t put it back on.

Cb3 mentions the grippy frame. It’s great, IMO. I wouldn’t even think about sanding it. That rough texture is a HUGE help to me in controlling the gun in recoil. It’s inevitable it will smooth up a bit with use. Please - no sanding!

I too would be interested in how this one shoots. My experience with 2.0s is a bit conflicting. (Speaking of the 9mm guns here.) Some seem to do considerably better than the earlier version. Unfortunately, not all of them do.

That’s a good price on that model. You did very well. Great looking gun! Congrats!

Thanks everyone. I took it to the range today and it ran excellent. I ran close to 200 rounds with a mix of ammo. I ran 124gr whitebox, some freedom Munitions 115gr, and some 115 reloads that are 115 SNS hi tech coated bullets on top of some sport pistol. I had one fail to fire with a Freedom Munitions round but I tried the round in another gun and it wouldn’t fire. Bad primer.

This gun is a light shooter. The 124 gr whitebox I believe is the nato rated stuff that is pretty snappy in my Shield and really snappy in my Micro 9 but this gun just handled it smooth. The gun is flat shooter and is a blast. The 5 inch barrel just makes sight acquisition very quick.

Could not be happier with it. So much so I just order two more mags for it.

The grip is aggressive but I like it. It just locks in your hand. I don’t plan on changing a think at this point. Just going to run it.
