9mm M&P Shield carry ammo?
I've been using Gold Dot Short Barrel in 124gr.
Friend of mine has been trying to get me to go with 147gr.w
What is your preferred carry ammo in your Shield and why?

9mm M&P Shield carry ammo?
Whatever works well. I'm using Federal 115 HPs right now. I fired a box of them at the range with no issues.

Been using CorBon for many years. 9mm +P 115gr JHP, 1350 fps with 466 ft lbs energy. This ammo has specs that exceed a lot of 40 and 45 SD ammo.

Other equivalent loads to this excellent Cor-Bon choice are Federal 9BPLE, a 115 grain JHP +P+ and Winchester 127 grain JHP +P+.

Federal LE 124gr HST. The most accurate ammo in my shield and 100% reliable for me.

Re: 9mm M&P Shield carry ammo?
I haven't really tested the accuracy of any hollow points vs others. Notice the Gold Dots are more accurate than the Lawman ammo I usually shoot. Will have to compare HST to Gold Dots.

I carry Liberty Halo (I think they are changing the name to Civil Defense, or something like that). It is light light light (lead free). I purchased it because they had a demo at my range. Devastating initial wound cavity and fragmentation, with about a zero percent chance of overpenetration.
In my full size home defense M&P, I use Federal HST +P 124. Very accurate for me, and really nasty, sharp flower when it opens up.

+1
Ballistics on Youtube are most impressive.
124 grain in my opinion with +P charge delivers optimum performance. 13 inches of penetration and 3 -4 inch cavity diameter wound with no jacket separation.
Not knocking 147 grain but I like the velocity of the 124 grain.

Federal LE 147gr HST. No particular reason, seems to have received good reviews, no problems in my Shield.

I carry whatever JHP ammo hits point of aim in my 9mm handguns. It varies from gun to gun. I actually prefer non-designer ammo like the Federal 9BP or Black Hills 115gr +P because it's cheap enough that I can practice with my carry ammo without breaking the bank.

I'm old fashioned, I'm not an FBI agent or LEO. My defense will be point defense at very short range. I still use the 115gr HP in Winchester WB or Silvertips or the equivalent Remington in 9mm. 110 gr Silvertips in .38 Special.

The best bullets in 147gr or 124gr +P will stop a threat.
