Have seen many a video showing field stripping where slide removal via the sear deactivation lever is avoided by pulling the trigger after flipping the breakdown lever and hitting the slide release. Mine doesn't allow it. Any reason why? Admitted noob, am I doing something wrong?

My FS will not, but my shield and my lady's jg will strip with the trigger pull. The difference.....I believe is with a mag safety, it won't work.
The mag safety is the trick so insert an empty magazine then try again and tell us what happens!

It is horrible getting old but that is most likely the problem!

That's been the only info I have seen online. Didn't think mine had a mag safety but it must.

Ok I just messed with mine a bit and figured out that with an empty mag in I can get it to release partially. Then if I drop the mag the slide will completely come off.

Didn't have any luck w mag in. So you are putting in an empty mag, then locking the slide open, dropping the breakdown lever, releasing the slide lock, dropping the mag, and it slides off?

I will try the steps from the thread when i get home. Have stripped many times using the lever, was just curious of the trigger method having seen it on youtube and wasnt able to do it with mine.

My M&P45 can be a little finicky from time and won't let me field strip with the trigger pull either. After flipping down the breakdown lever and closing the slide I have to ever so slightly pull back the slide about 1/4" or so and then pull the trigger. It doesn't do it all of the time but when it does this does the trick every time.

You have to have a mag in if you don't have the goofy warning printed on the side of the slide. ;)

Slide closed. Empty mag in. Take down lever down. Pull trigger. Remove mag. Remove slide.

Or just remove the internal sear disconnect lever.

I followed the steps, seems to work sometimes but not every time. I will just flip the sear deactivation. Not a big deal. Thx guys

For some reason I have to pull mine back on the Shield9 about a .25" inch as well then you can tell the trigger pull works and it slides off. It makes a dull hollow clicking noise if I try it without pulling on the slide a bit. I don't think it did that the very first few times, but I'm not even sure anymore. As long as I pull on the slide it works every-time. It's brand-new so I was going to see how it played out once it broke in.

Mine does this once in a while as well.
