The M&P22 is very simple to clean up the trigger. I've done a few now and it took over a pound off the pull and made it much smoother.
Using a lighted magnifier, I took a new, hard Arkansas stone with good edges and lightly honed the hammer, where it contacts the sear. Don't change any of the geometry and watch as you hone, to make sure you'e polishing straight not angled, in both directions, so that it polishes evenly all over, just enough to remove tool marks. You'll remove less than a half-thousanth, so no worry about going through the case hardening, which is supposed to be about 10 thousanths thick.
When done, using a toothpick, apply a tiny dab of aluminum anti-seize to the contact points (it stains, so don't get it anywhere else). JP Enterprises recommends aluminum anti-seize, as it stays put longer than other lubricants.
The trigger pull should now be around 3 to 4lbs and break very cleanly.

Disclaimer: The above should not be attempted, unless you know what you're doing. If you're not absoulutely sure, take it to a professional gunsmith.

I've been doing my own since the early 70's (grew up around some old gunsmiths). Saved a ton of money not paying some one to do the same thing to mine. I've always used a dab of grafite.
