I'm looking to buy a M&P 9L Pro Series CORE. Any pros/cons, and what upgrades are available more so triggers/kits? Thanks.

I have the apex fss trigger kit on my 40 and it's amazing!!! It is pretty easy to install yourself if our rear sight isn't in real tight otherwise you will want a sight pusher. I left the stock trigger return spring in and the stock sear spring in and polished up all the contact points and the firing pin block for a 3.1 lb trigger that's butter smooth. Wouldn't recommend for carry though cause the trigger is so light and there is almost no take up and no overtravel on the trigger.

Good luck finding one... I've been on the search for 4 months now. Also the Apex Ram won't work with it.

It looked like Kygunco.com had all M&P's in stock yesterday.

I was lucky to find a 5" at another LGS a few days ago.

HappyHunter,
Try out the Burris Fastfire III in 8 MOA.
I am extremely happy with it. 400 rounds and it has not lost Zero.
Plus it was $230 shipped to my door.
The Deltapoint sits a bit lower, and allows you to co-witness, The Burris sits a bit higher and the rear sight is on the same plane as the bottom of the window. This doesn't bother me much as this pistol is my range toy.

$699, while MSRP was $729. Gun came with a coupon from EOtech for half off msrp price of EOtech SRDS sight, this has been sent away for as well.
Next step is trigger work...thinking APEX, anybody got comments?

I'm pretty loyal to my LGS but I'm tired of waiting for a 9 CORE so I started looking on GunBroker. Saw some going for slightly higher prices and am considering going that route if I can come at least close to retail. Never having bought from that site I am wondering if anyone has feedback about the experience. I suppose it all depends on who you get it from. Thoughts?

Mitch- since I own a PX-4 40 and a 5" core 9mm ill chime in. I'd stick with the 9mm, it's my new favorite gun to shoot. I've tried to give the 40 cals a chance but I just don't shoot as well with them.
I've decided that I'm a 9mm and 45 shooter. I use the 40 to practice my form and trigger control. The 40 just seems to bring out every bad habit in me (flinching being the worst), which is why I am trying to master shooting with it.

I got a 9mm 5" CORE yesterday from my LGS. Very accurate right out of the box. Nice trigger. It didn't much like the reloads that I make for my Sigma. Some didn't eject and a few failed to load. They were 124gr plated with 4.0gr Titegroup. It shot factory Remington UMC flawlessly. Any different load ideas?

I got my CORE 4.5 9mm from Buds last week for $660. I used the JPoint coupon. Nice shooter. Had it out 3 times 100 rounds each thus far. No issues. Very accurate off a rest. I'm not going to worry about the trigger until its fully broken in. I would like more distinct reset.

My core had a FTF and a fte, one each in the first two magazines...this was with 115 gr fmj PMC ammo. Since then, it has performed flawless using my reloads (125 gr Zero JHP over 4.2 gr TiteGroup)!

gungeartogo.com in Plano, Texas has them for about 650.00.
I tried them out for function in the store and the triggers and short resets are dramatically better than the earlier generation pistols.
This is an excellent store in the Dallas area and they should do business over the internet also. Call them up after you review their website.
They are very nice people and the owner has been in the gun business in Plano for around 25 years.

Rogue Tom, I frequent that dealer and specifically asked for this model and the guy did not even know what I was talking about. I was told I would get a call when in stock and nothing. How long ago did you see them and was it the 5" 9mm core model?

It was about a week and a half ago. Most of their clerks are pretty informed but maybe you got a weak one. The guy I dealt with was in his early 20's and knew his stuff. He was even going to attach an RMR to the CORE so morr people would take notice of them. They recently moved all the Smiths to the display cases closest to the front door.
The pricing on the COREs is excellent since it is a pro series with the milled base for the optics. Custom makers were charging a ton of $ to do this and it voided the factory warranty.

Mine (9mm CORE 5 inch) was one of the early production from last fall and was very accurate at 15 yards; at 25 yards, not good at all. My CORE slide is currently with Grant of G&T for hand fitting of a new SL barrel. Also, not impressed with the so-called Pro sear and replaced it with an APEX sear.
On the plus side, the gun has been 100% reliable through 500 rounds with lots of HP rounds, as well as ball. Once it is back and functioned checked, I will buy an RMR for it.

Can anyone confirm this? I held a CORE 9mm (4.25") the other day, definitely had a good stock reset (pleasantly surprised), so perhaps it doesn't really need a RAM. Now if only they'd had one in .40, my wallet would have come away lighter....

I just picked up a M&P40L CORE 5" last Friday. I only shot 4 mags through it last weekend, I am planning to swap out the trigger with a Apex trigger and sear, and put the RMR sight on the pistol in the next couple months. So far I really like the gun, and it goes nice with my 4.25" M&P40 and my M&P40 Shield.
