Default Shield Advice

Been putting rounds through my M&P Shield 9 at 30 feet and I'm some what dis satisfied with the accuracy.

When it comes to tiny pistols this is the first one I have shot and owned. The recoil caught me off guard at first as did getting a good grip. Talon Grips fixed the grip issue though and I adjusted to the recoil with practice.

I found putting 200 rounds through it in one session punishing.

I was just surprised a bit since this was a 9mm (glad I didnt get the 40 lol)

Also going from the full size to the shield there is a big difference in the sight radius.

(Im training with 7 and 8 round magazines, but Ill mainly use the 7.)

What is your accuracy like at 30-35 feet? I'm hitting minute of bad guy, but I would like to improve. I'm not used to such a tiny and thin pistol but it is nice to have for summer carry. I'm a decent shot, but I know I am the issue. The Full Size M&P fits my hands like a glove, I wonder if I should put one of those grip sleeves on my shield?

Am I shooting this too far? (Come on though if Hickok can destroy plates from 50 yards away surely I can hit bulls eyes at 30 feet D

I'll have a bud fire it next time (if he is working as a RSO)

I bought a Shield 9.....and was disappointed that my trigger "break" was heavy compared to my used 9c.

My lyman digital showed over 9lbs trigger break.

I was trying 1" circle drills @ 3 yds and had a difficult time keeping them in the circle but yet my G19 could on each shot.

I really believe my gun's issue is not the accuracy but the trigger break stacks and when it hits its end, it snaps hard which causes slight movement on the OT.

I like my shield....but my trigger suxs.

I am considering the apex shield kit.

You should try with a KelTec PF9, now THAT is punishing. I have found the Shield great to shoot a lot. But it does take a higher toll than with the compact or full size. I tried the Ruger LC9 and I like the Shield better.

Anyway, for accuracy, make sure to bench it first to see how you can do while braced. Then it just takes work to get the right muscle memory going. One of the worst things someone can do (at least in my mind) is to start trying to shoot a new gun faster than they should until they are used to how it handles and how the trigger feels.

Forgot to mention I tried about 60 rounds of +P Self Defense ammo x_x

Please read what I said, I only used 60 rounds of +P Ammo. So 140 rounds were standard 9mm 115 grain FMJ. So your comment wasn't exactly helpful my friend.

The +P was near the end of my range session. I did so because it's the self defense round I will have in my shield and it needed some reliability testing.

With the Shield and adequate practice, you will be able to keep them in the 10 ring at 15 yards easy. The 5-point zone of a B27 or a tombstone target is no problem out to 60 yards. I know this from personal experience.

30 yards? Wow. I don't think I have ever practiced beyond 15-20 yards with any pistols.
