Hey all, I recently bought a new M&P40 PRO and bought a blackhawk cqc holster for it. My question is if this holster is legal to use when competing in idpa matches?

You would probably get an answer if you posted on the IDPA forum. In addition, the new IDPA rule book is coming out next week for public preview, so things may change, just have to wait and see.

I beleieve it depends on how it attaches to your belt! If it is a paddle style no, if its a belt slot attachment yes, blackhawk sells them both ways.

Thanks guys, but I've decided to return the holster and get the bladetech kit instead. Not really comfortable yet with the release mech on the blawkhawk holster. I figure I'd go ahead and get something I know will be approved and get a mag pouch while I'm at it.

I bought a Blade-Tech for my 9mm 5" Pro. It has the dropped and offset attachment. Not sure if that attachment is legal for IDPA, but it can be removed. This is the fastest, smoothest, most ergonomic holster I've ever used. (I've used Fobus and Blackhawk.) I also have the Blade-Tech double mag pouch and I love it. Both rigs have the Tek-Lok attachment. It makes putting on and removing the holster and mag pouch very quick and easy. No messing with your belt.

Drop & Offset holsters are not legal in IDPA either, once on the belt it has to be tight enough to the body with not nore than 3/4' between the body and the firearm, can be canted aft but not forward. belt not more than 1-3/4", belt must pass through all but 2 belt loops on the pants.
