M&P9 full size /question

Now the blue paint has begun to come off my spring, It has caught my eye that something looks different or maybe a section of the outside or last coil on the spring has broken and missing?

Is the last coil on the spring ( nose of barrel end) supposed to curl around about 3/4 around the rod? see photo and thank you in advance!
