Default APEX polymer vs aluminum trigger

has anyone switched over from the aluminum AEK trigger to the polymer trigger and if so what are your insights about both?

the polymer came out right after I bought the aluminum trigger and I was thinking about making the switch to the polymer and selling the aluminum trigger for my FS M&P9

I am very happy with the improved feel and action over the stock trigger but im just not feeling the love of the sharp edges of the aluminum trigger, it just doesnt feel right to me

I got tired of waiting and bought the alumninum one too, a few days before they released the plastic one. But I cannot say I am in any way dissatisfied with the metal trigger.

In the end I guess it depends on what you would prefer, some people like myself like metal triggers. They are pretty much the same design, just different materials.

I won't go back to a polymer trigger. I like my aluminum one, and it's not too "sharp" to bother me. I prefer a more solid feel than the polymer can provide.

I have both. M&P40 and M&P9. Both have AEK Duty/Carry kits and one has the aluminum trigger the other, poly. I think they are both worth what you pay. For the money the Poly is an EXCELLENT low cost approach to getting rid of that *** factory design.

The aluminum trigger has a much flatter face. BUT. I like it because it reminds me of a 1911.

They are both awesome. Haven't fired the poly one yet. I just installed it today. The Poly feels just as tight as the aluminum one. Although, like I said, haven't ranged it for some rounds yet.

well its not a "sharp" edge on the metal trigger but it is flat which is a contrast to where the poly trigger has a more gradual rounded face like the stock trigger and I find my finger pressing more on the flat edge rather then depressing the trigger safety bar.

as far as trigger feel, I have no reference to shoot for since its my first handgun so im not used to the 1911 "feel" so its not anything I was looking to try for.

im just not sure if I want to swap out to the poly and sell the metal trigger but I am strongly considering doing just that.

can anyone tell me if the poly trigger has the same open cut out on one side like the metal trigger does or is it molded as a solid body on both sides?

It's solid on the right side, unlike the aluminum one.

Installed the poly about two weeks ago and to answer your question..it's molded as a solid body, I'm not an expert but it definitely is an improvement over stock..IMHO.

thanks guys

I was a little put out buy that cut out on the aluminum trigger, I felt like they were trying to hide it or something since all the pictures show the visible parts of the trigger to be solid but in reality only one side is.

I hate an all black gun and then there is one little silver bit showing in the cut out like something is not fitting right or is missing from it. I even took mine back down and painted the end of the trigger bar black so it wouldn't stand out.

Finally took mine to the range for a head/head comparison. Aluminum vs poly. The poly is excellent. No negatives against it at all. I was shooing 2" groups at 20ft taking my time.

I am loving my polymer FSS with the 3.5 pound spring option in my M&P 9mm. Light, fast, robust, and easier to install than the aluminum. It came with a 4.5 pound, too, if I ever wanted to convert to a more carry friendly setup.

If you are noticing the square edge on the metal trigger you should consider how your grip & trigger finger location are working.
