I was at my local gun store yesterday punching holes in paper and noticed they had a 40 Shield for sale.

I asked about S&W asking gun dealers to pull Shields off the shelf until further notice.

Their reply was they were told to do the trigger inspection and if it passed the weapon was good to go.

SD40VE, M&P Shield 9mm

I bought a Shield 40 this weekend from a local dealer who had a booth setup at the gun show. They had stacks of shields on the table. The first one I looked at had the trigger problem and the second one i looked at was good to go.

Sad thing was they put the one with the bad trigger right back on the table. When i mentioned the safety notice from S&W the guy knew nothing about it. This is the larget dealer in the Jacksonville FL area.

I got a killer deal on the shield 40. $389

Mine failed the trigger test so I called the S&W Hotline number to get a FedEx label and it took almost 1 1/2 weeks to get it. It took two days to get to S&W and now we will see if it turns around in 5-7 days.

That's a great price. I thought I did well at $399.

Sent mine in on Aug 26th. Nothing back yet.

A sarcastic look at this might cause someone to think that the gun store knew and didn't care. It's a gun show, buyers might not be back, need product to sell, etc., etc. Anyone complains they just send it back, but have already gotten their money, and the shipping is on S&W.

If they really didn't know, then they must live under a rock. If they did know, and still put them out to sell with defective triggers rather than be stuck with stock that is not able to be sold while it is off at S&W, then they have questionable business practices and should be avoided.
