Default My 40c needs a safe to live in!

There are so many pistol safes on the market! I need one big enough for my M&P40c, 2 magazines and several boxes of ammo. If anyone has an opinion about a particular safe you use, I would like to hear from you.

I got a good size one through Costco and dirt cheap compared to other Mfg's.

The bigger the better. I can't imagine a lifetimes collection of arms under a bed or lined up in a closet.

After lots of research, I chose this one and I couldn't be more pleased: Amazon.com: Sentry Safe Quick Access Safe 0.08 Cubic Feet: Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/313WPMLNxVL.@@AMEPARAM@@313WPMLNxVL

It has plenty of space and it's very sturdy. The buttons run on four AA batteries and it comes with two keys as well. It came with two holes in the bottom for bolting it down but I added two more for reassurance.

There are several nice small quick access safes -- I think they call them "gun vaults" or maybe that is just one brand name -- that are made for bedstands etc.

Here is a link to the GunVault company.

http://www.gunvault.com/

I actually own the one that is in the middle -- the Bio tech one. However, it is too small to hold all that you want to do. It only has room for a gun. Mine is attached down low on the bed rail, up close to the headboard. Completely hidden as my bed stand is also next to the bed. I went with the bio-fingerprint unlock because I figured if I were woken in the middle of the night, I would be too zonked-out to remember a pushbutton code sequence. The Bio thing works great. This also relieves my fear of my grandkids finding a gun stuck away in a drawer, etc. The quality of the one I bought is excellent.

Anyway, look at the other vaults they offer. There are also other brands, etc., with cheaper prices that you can do a search on Amazon or Google. I would think that most gun stores ought to have a selection.

I'm not certain any "pistol" safe will have the space required for all the items listed. I have the Fort Knox original pistol box and IMO is one of the best available. The thing weighs 26 pounds empty. It has 4 holes in the bottom to secure it. If you want a true gun safe, then I highly recommend Sturdy Safes. Excellent safe for the money.

I have a Barska biometric (fingerprint) safe. I love it!!! Have had it for about a year now. Biometric Safe by Barska. If someone is kicking my door in at 3am, its nice to know that I don't have to worry about some code or # combination to get my weapon out quickly. Under stress, you can forget a lot!!

Depends on how many boxes of ammo is "several". A few is no problem with many of the boxes out there.

I got this one from EBAY for about $40.00. Just bolt it down and you are fine. Its not the best but interior dimensions are 8.9" x 6.5" x 6.5". The kids, ages 1 year to 33 years cant get in to it. yes the 33 year old could figure a way in given enough time but the little ones wont be able to. I keep 3 hand guns and 3 extra mags in there. You could easily fit a FS M&P and 8 boxs of ammo. The only thing I added was a motion sensor light. You could find better ones but not for the price. Bolted down its secure and the door wont pop open. Its sturdy and the one flaw shown on you-tube is canceled by bolting it down.

Its worth the money and secure. Key lock and keypad lock.. Keys two included.
FYI I have nothing to do with the person that is selling this item.

Its worth the money and safe.

was looking for one just like this the other day...cheap and simple. So would't have a problem with my FS 9mm and some clips and ammo?

Not at all. Like I said I have a 9C and 2 other guns inside with a second full mag for each. There is still room for a single stack of 3-4 boxs of ammo. In this pic there is just the 3 guns and 1 mag. As you can see there is room for 2 more mags. change the layout and you can get boxs of ammo too. The 9C is laying down so I can grab it from the bed as I get up. The Kleenex is because its a good save but the "carpet" they sent sucked. I need to replace it. Just remember I added the light on the wall. without it there is more room.

Don't laugh. Go to harbor freight. They have. A medium sided safe for 129 and you can usually get a Coupon for around 100.

It is thick steel and weighs about 75lbs and has an electronic lock with a keyed backup. Adj shelves inside that will hold a couple of ammo cans. If have one bolted to their big safe for my ammo storage
