Default My New M&P C.O.R.E. .40 w/Apex & Deltapoint

Hi, Just bought this gun last week. Took it to the range once, and decided I had to get some optics and a trigger kit. It shot ok, but with my eyes I had to have optics put on. So, I ordered the Apex FSST Trigger kit with the anodized aluminum trigger, and the Competition Spring Kit, and the RAM, since I was going to have it apart anyway. Putting the kit in the Core was a little different from the videos since they showed a standard M&P. The sight doesn't have to be moved. The striker block is under the cap where the slide is milled for a red dot. I then picked up the Leupold Deltapoint at a local store. Put the kit in, mounted the sight and went to the range today. Here are the results after sighting in. This was shot at about 36 ft with Winchester white box ammo.

One thing I've been impressed with so far, I've probably put in around 500 rounds so far, not one problem yet. Been extremely reliable. I do want to say, that the Apex Tactical Trigger is everything everyone has said about it. I think S&W should adopt this from the factory because it improves the gun tremendously. I had the Pro which is suppose to be the better trigger, but I didn't like it. Now I love it. If S&W put these in all their guns at the factory, they could probably do it for about $25.00-50.00 each and they'd really have a great product.

I just picked up a core too. I heard that the core trigger was pretty good as is. Did you shoot it much before you got the trigger upgrade? How would you compare the two?
I am also looking at the leupold delta point as it has a lifetime warranty and seems more affordable than the others. How do you like the leupold?

I did shoot it before I replaced it, that convinced me that I wanted a better trigger. I didn't like the long take up and gritty feeling, plus the hinged trigger felt strange. There is no comparison between the stock "pro" trigger and the Apex. S&W should put Apex triggers in all their "Pro" M&P's. If it weren't for the milled slide I'd been better off getting the standard M&P then putting in the Apex. The trigger on my Pro now is very light and crisp, very little play in it now. Small bit of take up about .25" then pow. The Leupold I really like, the one thing though is the adjustments of the sights require that the locking screws be loosened and tightened every time I adjust them. That is a pain because the rear sight is so close to them. I ended up removing the rear sight, mostly because I first thought it had to come off to put in the Apex, but the USB is under the cover, not under the rear sight like on the regular M&P's. Once I either get the right tool or satisfied with my sights, and I'm about there. Then I'll reinstall the rear sight. I like the triangle on the Deltapoint, I use the tip as my aim point. It seems perfect for self defense and using the tip of the delta for target shooting. Next I'm getting a Storm Lake 9mm threaded barrel for it.

I agree with DanTana on getting the Apex trigger. The whole trigger experience has been improved. I also polished all of the internals and that was noticeable even after the Apex parts.

I have a JPoint on mine. I assume you are sighting it in from a bench rest. Any other way is just getting close, you need to make it all about the gun and not the shooter.

Mike, Your absolutely correct, the best way to sight it in is with a bench rest. Luckily, I can group my shots fairly well, at least now with the Apex I can. It gives me a good idea where to go with the adjustments. I will be going back to the range here very soon, at least when I get my new barrel and try it again.

Thanks for the input on the storm lake barrel-good find. What suppressor are you looking at?

I'm not sure yet. I really just like the look of the threaded barrel more than anything. I almost bought the FNX-45 Tactical for that look. If I were to get one, I have read the Osprey is good and Hickock45 tested the STP oil filter suppressor in one of his videos.
