I have a 40c as my edc. i love it. i'm getting a nice little bonus at work this week and have been talking about getting the wife a carry gun for a while, bonus money is fun money! there is a local guns shop that is having a big anniversary sale this weekend and will have both in stock. prices aren't amazingly low, but less than what i usually see them for locally.

her parents live with a lady to help her since she has had some diabetic episodes and she recently purchased a bodyguard. she has not shot it yet, but i have held it. it thought it feel too small for me, but my wife may like it. i'm hoping she gets a chance to handle it before the weekend.

i've seen a few shields in the case, never held one even though i have been interested since their release. i plan on bringing one home, for myself, in 9mm as i have do not have a 9mm.

my wife shoots the 40c better than i do but she wants something a little smaller to carry.

she don't want to go with me, even though i have tried to tell her how important it is for her to handle her gun. unfortunately, there are no indoor ranges where we can shoot, let alone try/rent them.

the bg with laser is going to $379.
the shield will be $399.

for those that own both, which do you prefer?

Right now... One factor in my area is ammo availability.
9mm is back to good availability at all the local stores.
.380 ammo has a habit of disappearing faster and staying difficult to find longer.

If she doesn't want to go along to comparison shop, she must not be ready to decide. I'd table the whole notion until SHE wants to shop.

Both are good and nice to shoot. For the price difference, I prefer the Shield (either 9, or 40) over the 380 w/laser.

It's impossible to say. I only own a Shield but have handled the BG. Both are nice but the Shield is much better for me. That obviously means exactly nothing to your wife though. I guess it depends on the size of her hands and what the intended use of huge gun will be. FWIW I don't think there is a bad decision to be made.

I have both guns, bg for warm weather, shield for colder temperatures. I like the shield trigger very much, but I also like the bg trigger. It has a longer and harder pull to be sure, but is very easy to stage and is consistent. From reading the forums, I get the idea that I may be the only bg owner who likes the trigger.

My wife loves to shoot and carry her Shield 9. She hates the trigger on the BG380 so she's not as accurate and doesn't carry it as much. The recoil on my Shield 40 is a little too snappy for her but she likes shooting my 40c. It's a little too big for her to carry though.

I own and have shot both

If Space is no problem (Purse)
I would get her the Shield all day long
I got the BG380 for the days I dont holster the Shield.
I want to put it in cargo shorts pocket.
The shield is just a little to heavy for that (me anyway)
But the trigger on the BG is LOnGGGGGG

So I vote Shield all the way If her Purse is big enough

Ammo was a concern sort of...one store has lots of everything but limits you to one box per caliber per visit...luckily they are right across from work so a daily stop is not an issue


As far as not being ready...it's like me shoe shopping with her...she just don't like going in gun stores...although she said she would visit one this week to handle both

I'm leaning towards shields for both if it feels comfortable to her

I have both. If buying one or the other, then I'd recommend the Shield because it is a much better gun in every way, other than being bigger and heavier than the BG.

I like the BG trigger better than the Shield. It is very easy to stage or rapid fire. The BG is a very comfortable pocket pistol. My Shield is a more general pistol for me. It all depends how you are going to carry it. The Shield is a better general/night stand gun. It will be easier for a novice to shoot.


I love it when I hear the BG isn't accurate or hard to shoot....


That little gun can take care of business.
