I have put about 700 rounds of fmj through my shield without any issues. This past weekend I ran 50 rounds of Federal 147 +P HST through it and had 4 failures to feed. It was the second round each time and happened with three different mags.

Obviously I can't trust the HST. Has anyhone else experienced this issue? What other SD rounds are people using in their shield?

I've always had good results with Speer 'LE' Gold Dot (50 round box).
If you have a Bass Pro in your area, try their Winchester XSZ9.
I've also had good results with Remington UMC JHP ( 100 round Green & White box) from WalMart (believe it or not).

I've had good results w/ Hornaday Critical Defense and Critical Duty .

well,I have the same issue like yours.
Mine had failure to eject with Remington golden sabre 124gr +p amd a bulging case with the one sold with my shield. The gun just came back from S&W. They polished the chamber and replaced extractor which I really doubt will fix the issue.
It was approved I am right when I tried it out again this monday. However, I thought it might be only for the +p version so this time I tried 147gr HST too.
I got the same issue as yours but with 8 round magazine only. It happened twice for the 20rd I tested.
I have called S&W for another trip back for my shield. Since I got it in January, it spent most of time with S&W instead of me. Very frustrating.
BTW, I also tested gold dot 124gr +p, non +p and 147gr, all of them worked.
do you mind to tell your first few numbers of your serial? mine starts with HSB and was manufactured last Dec. thx

Hornady Critical Defense 9MM has fed, gone bang, extracted and next round fed every time in my Shield. Also, Winchester PDX1 124 +P has worked well but I've only shot about 10 rounds of the Winchester so can't say with confidence. I've put about 50 rounds of Critical Defense 9MM through it and about 400 rounds of 115gr FMJ (various brands)

I don't have mine with me, but I bought it last December and the dealer had just received the shipment from S&W. It was the 8 rd mags that malfunctioned on mine. Fired the first round, then the second round hung up in the mag somehow and didn't chamber. Happened 3 times in a row, then I tried the 7 rd mag and it fired fine. Tried another 8 rd and it jammed again.

Good to hear about the Gold Dots. I was going to order some to try out.

I have been tired of spending my money as a beta tester. So far the ammo I have spent is enough to buy another shield. It's not my responsibility to test that so I chose to send it back again....
