Default Won a Shield

So I won a Shield at a competition. The certificate states its for the version with the safety. Should I request the non-safety version?

Congratulations.

You could ask them if they will swap firearms but it would depend on the terms of the contest.

You could sell it and then apply the money towards a Shield w/out a safety.

Congrats on the win. Opinions on the safety or non vary greatly and depend on your personal preference. I like the safety on mine. I can use it or not.

Simply a matter of preference on the safety.

Congrats on the win. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, accept the prize and choose to do as you wish at a later date.

Honestly, I don't know why you're asking us.

Safety or not is a choice. It's a good weapon either way.

Oh, and CONGRATS!!

Congrats. Its personal preference, but I'd take it either way.

Congrats!!
Never hurts to ask... All they can say is either 'Sure... No Problem', or 'Sorry... No'. Either way, it's a great little pistol.

While I'd prefer the NTS, I'd take either.

No joke. The reason I asked is because I don't plan on keeping it. Going to sell it. Just trying to figure out which would be more desireable.

I've had a safety on every semi auto I've owned, so would find it stranger to not have it. Part of the routine.

My LGS sells shields faster than they come in, so I'd say be happy, don't raise a fuss, and put it out there if you want.

Can't name a major firearms manufacturer that sells a semi automatic firearm without a safety . . . or three

Surfing through my local Armslist, both TS and NTS versions are listed, and there appears to be no difference in price. My gun shop had a bunch of TS Shields in stock and could order a NTS version...both were the same price.

If there is a difference in desirability (and thus, price), it's either very slight or very localized. I'd say that it doesn't matter either way.

They're the same price out here. As for desirability, depends on who you ask. Just read the TS vs NTS threads.

OK. I thought maybe you were having a little fun because of all of the heated debates lately about the safety/no safety issue.
As far as being desirable, I really think either would sell quickly for equal money, so a trade would be a wasted effort.

I think the safety on the Shield is well-designed and highly unlikely to ever be engaged or disengaged without it being deliberate. I use the safety when I pocket or appendix carry.

I'd say get the non-safety model if possible. I can't even count how many people wanted one, but didn't because of the safety.

I had 2 Shields with the safety and would rather have one without. It was hard to push off than the much smaller safety on my BG380. If it was extended out like the larger M&Ps, then I wouldn't have a problem. I know people say not to use it, but I'd rather not have there in the first place then. Good thing they're making them without one. Now if they'd only do the same with the BG380, then they'd really have something. Having one on the BG is like having one on a J frame, pointless.
